This fanbase is spoiled.

What? Were you expecting to come into this thread, and find me complaining about all the "whiners?" Were you preparing to give me loads of SWAG and Pie because you were glad someone was putting the people who aren't just happy with exciting football and fantasy football numbers in their place?

Sorry. But this isn't the thread for you, and I am well aware a sentence should never be started witht he word "but."

No no. You see, what I am talking about is a quote. A quote I said months ago when we cut John Kasay and replaced him with Olindo Mare.

I said that this fanbase was spoiled with John Kasay. That we didn't really know what we had with him. We didn't truly understand the concept that a Kicker could go out there to win us the game and not make the kick. Sure, it happened against Cleveland last year. That said, Kasay had bult a reputation as clutch, and was given a pass, as he should have been.

Back when Kasay was cut people were so happy to see the "old annoying guy who won't shut up about God" to get cut. He had been here so long-did what he did for so long-that people took it for granted. This fanbase was spoiled. So when he was cut, some rejoiced. But as I and a few others pointed out-people here didn't understand the concept that something like this-a loss like this-could happen.

Who else felt weird today when the kick was missed? As if you were waiting for the offsides flag to come up so we could rekick and do it again and get it right? It never came. The kicker for our team went out their for a chip shot to keep us alive-and missed. Failed to do the one thing Kicker's are paid the big bucks to do.

In conclusion, let me just say this-and I don't usually like this type of thing but I feel it's justified after how much criticism myself and others took for giving heat to the decision to cut Kasay in favor of Mare:

I told you so.

I told you that Kasay was just too reliable to part with so easily. I told you that Mare provided nothing that the new kickoff rules didn't already provide. I told you that he was overpaid and didn't understand the concept of getting "younger" with him-and MOST importantly-let me emphasize-MOST important of all-I TOLD you that Mare has a REPUTATION for choking in big moments. I warned you.

Kasay, now is statistically the best Kicker in the league right now.

Mare just lost us the game. Yes, the run defense was poor, and blah blah blah.

In the end, however, we overcame those things-and our 12 million dollar "upgrade" lost us the game on an easy kick.

Does this piss you off? Are you angry that all these facts are just running up and smacking you in the face when you are so excited about adding another moral victory to the moral win column?

Good.

Because I was pretty pissed off too when I watched us lose a game thanks to a guy that should be at home with his kids. Mare should be cut. Does that sound drastic? Don't care. As I said, Mare has a reputation as a choke artist, and if he spends his entire contract here-I can personally guarantee this won't be the last time we see him lose a game for us.

G'day to all of you.

TRUTH, Kasay for his misses has always been more reliable than not when it comes to big time kicks. Fans will look at the superbowl kick off, the Giants miss in 08, the Cleveland miss last year, but those are blips in a clutch filled career, I have no douby JK would have made that field goal today.

Look, after 8 weeks if people haven't figured out what this season is about, who cares? Let them vent, the stupid ones make fun of...move on and don't let them stop you from enjoying the Panthers, win or lose. Yeah, today's loss was bad....I still ain't mad.

well I am a little mad at an old kicker...

This team is a young coaching staff that can't close out games because they call plays like they have fantasy points at stake. They have NO FEEL for the game.

You may not want to be a "run first" offense, but any smart person can tell when things are out of sync and you need to get things back under control...so you need to come out the next possession running, instead of contributing to the anxious energy by trying to go for the big play, only to miss on it, get behind on yards, and blow another chance to extend a lead. Last week was the only time this year they've used the running game right, in the 2nd half.

The coaches may be learning, but the play calling has lost more than a couple of games this year. Experienced coaching and a bad defense and they're still no worse than 4-4 right now.

I applaud u...I sometimes think many fans forget that it takes a TEAM to win, just like it takes a TEAM to lose. If every person on the Panthers team see his job as an important contribution to this team's win, they will play better. But as it seems, and even on this site, way to many excuses are made for those who should realize that they get PAID to play a game.

In order for this TEAM to win, every part has to contribute something on every given Sunday. The attitude of IF our offense does this....

This team as a whole should be sick of losing week in and out the way they are not just a couple of people. There is no excuse to miss a 31 yd goal if the wind isn't directly in ur face at 100 miles an hour.. Not if u get paid to kick balls for a living.
