Home/Away schedule through 2017 listed

i knew about the rotation.

the thing i wasn't sure about was the home/away games being decided. makes sense, though.

These eight season schedules will take each team through a cycle of games - home and away - against every other team in the league. In these eight seasons, every team will play every other team at least twice - once home and once away. After the 2009 season, a decision will be made on whether to continue with the same rotation or modify it.

the problem is, though, are they going to start the rotation over or just continue it? the home and away games could easily be backward or totally different than the way it has been. it is far from a sure thing that it will stay the same.

now after the season is over what is going to happen? that is the problem. do they extend it another year while they try to figure it out? are they going to be able to decide on a schedule rotation in between the 2009 and 2010 season? how long will it take to get that hashed out?

if they manage to extend the season by a couple games...what is that going to do to the rotation? where will those other games come from?

Yeah, it's interesting that you haven't heard ANYTHING from the league regarding extending the current schedule rotation that runs through 2009. I think everyone assumes that 2010 will just start at the same place that we did in 2002.

I think the NFL has held back any official announcement because of this 18 game schedule idea and the current lack of a CBA after the next couple of years.

There has been one modification, allowing East Coast teams to not have to play in San Diego and Oakland (not sure if this applies to San Fran and Seattle) in the same season.

i think that was just something that kept them from having to be out there 2 weeks in a row.

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
