Cam effect in Phily

Recommended Posts

Was in Phily* today. Local sports talk radio had two callers call in to discuss Cam Newton. In PHILY. Tony Bruno has a local show there now and said he'd take Cam over Luck all day.

Was in Baltimore airport this afternoon. Panther cap on. Security guys wanted to talk Cam and how the Panther fanbase is growing fast up there.

It is a strange experience to hear Panther talk outside our market.

Cam Freaking Newton

*Geno's cheesesteaks were meh. J Mike's Phily Deli in Wilmington is better.

This speaks volumes for the direction this franchise is headed. The patriots, cowboys, steelers, and now the panthers all have one thing in common-national love. This is awesome for a team that has been in the league for only, what, 16 years. Compare Jacksonville. Yeck!

    • IMO, I wouldn't consider either one of them a JAG, or Norwell or Mike Jack. I define a JAG as someone that can be easily replaced cheaply on day 3 of FA. A perfect example is Nick Scott. A deent enough back-up but not a starter. We let him test FA this offseason, no one made a good offer, we brought him back then drafted his replacement (I hope). Luvu, Shaq and Norwell were all starters that we let walk for financial reasons... And they all got picked up immediately by other teams. After they left us, they were missed. I fear that the same thing will happen next year with Jackson.
    • No he is not. On any other normal team he would be a backup if not off the team.
    • You could be right. I feel like if Bryce has a year basically the same as last year we're better off trading him because there are likely several teams that would be interested, despite what his naysayers on this forum will tell you. Not saying we'd get a 1st or 2nd rounder, but I feel confident some team would be willing to cough up a 3rd rounder for a former #1 overall QB that has shown at least some flashes.
