Lets simplify the Draft Marty!

Nice job of moving the goalposts.

And yes you look at teams like Alabama and LSU intensely for talent, but you still cherry pick the best players from all college teams. You don't just lock into a few programs.

With a great GM I would agree. I am trying to dumb it down for Hurney so we can consistently make good draft decisions. There are flaws but we are trying to lessen the downside.

Also, Not really moving the goal posts. I did say there are a handful of players better at their positions. Which would be your first and early second round players if Claiborne (remember Peterson last year) are already taken. After that 3,4,5 rounds I would stick with LSU/Bama for guaranteed toughness and talent. Simple. Effective.

So you take the LSU/Alabama players that nobody else valued highly enough to take before the 3rd/4th/5th, or do you take the best player from an Illinois/FSU etc.

It's simply talent evaluation. I'd heavily weight my grade for an Alabama/LSU player early because you know they've been coached up to the gills (so if they're physically talented you know they're going to be technically sound too), but later on I'd look elsewhere if everyone else has passed them up.

I know thats what im saying. Hes 20 and would be one of our best backs, clairborne would be our best defensive player. Peterson is a rookie we all know well.

My point is their raw talent is excellent at every position save qb. Outside of a handful of players who are noticibly better right now in college, you would be safe drafting a position of need every round from LSU. You sure wouldnt get an Otah. Miles doesnt play pussies.

Clairborne seems like a poor man's Patrick Peterson to me... (What do you know... another LSU product) and we saw how well he covers at this level. Gettin' burned on a consistent basis... Clairborne is not as good as people are giving him credit for. Just my two cents.

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
