We've got a 2009 745i, drives like a dream, but the repair and service costs for any BMW are ridiculouse..by way of example on the 7 series the tires are run flats..e.g expensive as hell to replace not sure about the three series, additionally your rountine checks are ridiculously expensive (we've not left out of Hendrick with less than a 350 bill) oil changes....again ridiculous....all in all though we like the car and more than likely will buy another one....my advice to you for service is too find someone else other than Hendricks...IMO

Well, I'm in Spartanburg, so I would get service down here. The dealer (an independent) services them, and my regular mechanic does as well.

My son bought a used 325i (09). Had it 2 weeks and the battery went out which is OK....I figured about time. It was $300 not installed. I asked why he bought 3 batteries. His had that tailgate package with like 2 huge power inverters in trunk.

Oh yeah I forgot about the battery replacement...it sits in the trunk and it's not like you can go to the autozone and get one, you are forced to go to the dealership...dang I forgot that one, I think that was about a $425 trip because they had to do something to the computer system

naw thats just what they tell you. my brother and I put a new battery in his 330 no problem. It was 195 at autozone.

When my run flats ran down I replaced them with low profile summer treads. Drives a lot smoother and were half the price of the run flats.

Replace the Michelin's with Cumho's. 1/3 the price and as long as you stay under 110 it wont matter. You will have more road noise, but just think of it as money in your pocket.

Never saw the point of the 328. If you want the performance got up to the 335, if not, just buy a 1 series. The backseat in the 328 is comically small.

I would never buy a 328. It screams I have a BMW for the minimum effort. You can get a better engine and package on the 3 series for a few grand more. Or you can upgrade to the 5 series which is really the best.

Well, if you don't have "a few grand more," that's an issue ... and frankly, I like the 3-series much better than the 5 for looks, etc. The 3-series is what I've wanted, period. If I didn't get that, and I could afford it, I'd get a 1-series.

I like the sportiness of the 3. Don't want a Z because I don't want a sports car anymore - been there, done that with Datsun/Nissans. Plus, I can't do a manual shift anymore, so what's the fun in having a sports car without it?

let us know how you like the jetta.

My daughter has one. 2010 ... Bought it new. I like it. I do drive it a good bit because when we go off together, we use her car, and I'm a control freak when it comes to driving -- I always drive.

Only problem she's had with it is that one of the tail lights fogs up when it rains. They've "fixed" it numerous times, but it comes back.
