Game 1 evaluations

STOCK UP

- Kemba played well, struggled shooting but constantly created his own shots, really what we need. Good defense, few steals really looked comfortable in stretch when he was required to carry the team. Passing was good, only 2 assist but didn’t really get time with any other players who could score.

18pts 2 assist 1 steal 3 reb and 0 turnovers. (had a +16 pt difference +/-)

- D.J. white- solid game on both ends, just a fundamental player always in right place. Deserves role min if play continues.

8 pts 6 reb

-Derrick Brown aka UPS- double-double decent play all points were putbacks or fast breaks but played hard. Can contribute for energy min, same player you remember from previous stint with us. With start tonight I feel like he tried to hard cant create for himself too much dribbling. But not bad.

10pts 10 reb

- Borris Diaw- I really think he looked great out there tonight. He played with some initiative, rare for him but he took the shot when open and drove the lane kicked to shooters decent defense and help on reb. Very happy with his play.

12pts 3 reb

- Taylor griffin- played really hard, solid energy helped keep offense fluid without scoring. If he plays like tonight he has a outside chance at roster spot.

2pts 2 reb

-Gerald Henderson- played well on offense, showed improvements on range and looked comfortable, felt like he struggled on some defense but had bad matchups in post with joe Johnson and marvin Williams.

8pts

STOCK DOWN

- Tyrus- a lot of bad shots, not all his fault but played well on defense, unfortunately got hurt (asprained ankle) should be ok though. Needs more discipline on offense.

6 pts (3-14fg) 9 reb

- D.J Augustine- poor performance, if he wants to hold kemba off he needs to play better all-around bad. Horrible ball command.

7pts (2-9fg) 6 turnovers

- Gana Diop- out of shape still no offense and now no defense. No excuses its sad to see him on the court unless he played for other team. Always out of position just too slow to react.

0pts 7 reb 2blocks

Everyone else didn’t stand out either way,

- muhammed didn’t do much

- Uzoh- played decent, solid defense ran breaks, but only played 8min

- Carroll- played ok, can still shoot

as a team shot poorly, really need more shooters, Carroll, kemba and dj are the only shooters henderson appears to have the range now but still needs to be proven consistant. defense was good, high energy all night from almost everyone. overall good game, got the win, no major injuries

    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
    • I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
