Free Agent Cornerbacks/Safetys

We are most likely keeping Gamble, Hogan, Godfrey and Munnerlyn. Possibly Butler if he comes cheap. So that leaves around 5 possibly slots between promoting from practice squad, free agency and the draft. Now I see us picking up Casey Hayward in the 4th because I'm not totally sold on picking up Kirkpatrick with that pick. So we have some possibilities in free agency.

Cornerbacks

Cortland Finnegan, Tennessee Titans (Drew Brees is in our division.)

Brent Grimes, Atlanta Falcons

Carlos Rogers, San Francisco 49ers (We should have got him last year no way he leaves San Fran.)

Brandon Carr, Kansas City Chiefs

Tracy Porter, New Orleans Saints

Rashean Mathis, Jacksonville Jaguars

Marcus Trufant, Seattle Seahawks

Terrell Thomas, New York Giants

Ronde Barber, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Eric Wright, Detroit Lions

Aaron Ross, New York Giants

William Gay, Pittsburgh Steelers

Richard Marshall, Arizona Cardinals (Bring him back for the league minimum.)

Tim Jennings, Chicago Bears

Alan Ball, Dallas Cowboys

Elbert Mack, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Corey Graham, Chicago Bears

Zackary Bowman, Chicago Bears

Kelvin Hayden, Atlanta Falcons

I like the idea of this setup in order.

-Gamble

-Finnegan

-Hayward/Hogan/Butler

-Munnerlyn (ST Hero)

As for safeties have Rivera make a call and bring this man in with a nice restructured contract.

Oh I forgot no one ever changes their mind after the draft. My bad I guess this thread is GIF approved.

Were going to have to deal with that stupid response every time free agency discussion comes up, so you better settle in.

Rest assured, when we sign our first even relatively decent player I'm going to go ballistic on some folk. I've already got my list cooking,

Tracy Porter would be a nice signing with the Saints having to pay as many people as they do. Cortland Finnegan would be a lovely signing, we need someone with an attitude on defense, but I don't realistically see him leaving Tennessee.
Recently heard he's been somewhat disgruntled because he hasn't been taken care of yet. Also yes he is the Steve Smith of the Defense. Also Smitty vs CF practice should be interesting.

Also this is my mock.

#1 - Devon Still DT Penn State (Beast)

#2 - Sean Spence OLB Miami (Thomas Davis 2.0)

#4 - Casey Hayward CB Vanderbilt (Play maker & steal)

#5 - Brandon Mosley OT Auburn (Not Otah)

#6 - Shaun Powell P Florida State (Baker is bad)

#7 - D''Anton Lynn CB Penn State (Not Martin)

corey graham should be brought in since he's a special teams beast

don't think we can afford grimes, carr, finnegan, thomas, or anyone like that

no safeties available that i'm interested in either...

Yeah, no safeties interested me either. I'm not totally concerned with the Cap as of now with all these TV Deals coming but I like to keep an open mind because clearly Captain isn't the answer.

I like Brandon Carr and Aaron Ross. Remember we don't need a #1 corner just a #2. I think either of those guys could take on that role and be effective. There is also the chance Hogan could step up and be a#2 corner as well.

    • Has anybody actually said anything of that sort? (if they did, I missed it) I get why some folks rely on stats. I don't, and honestly I'm not sure why people keep trying to convince me I should. (it ain't gonna happen) 😕 Consistency is my big thing too, and the lack of it is why I want to move on from Bryce. But again, that's an argument I make without denying that he can indeed play in (and yes, win) NFL games. Hating bad QB play is fine. Denying when you see good QB play is silly. Let's be real for a second... This may not be you specifically, but there are some folks for whom Bryce can do absolutely nothing to win their approval. Some are always gonna want a bigger / stronger / faster / more athletic (in some cases, Newtonesque) quarterback even if Bryce does start to play consistently. At that point, they'll just shift the argument from "we can't win with Bryce" to "well, we can't keep winning with Bryce" 😖 You know all this as well as I do. So again, I want to move on from Bryce as well. I'd happily (hell, merrily) keep him as a backup, but I doubt there's a realistic path to that happening. But no matter what, I'm gonna keep my debate points based in reality, and I'm not gonna be responsive to "he just sucks" level persuasion. Is any of that unreasonable? 🤔
    • Apples and oranges.   No one is coming for Jon Snow and the neutral party when they compliment Bruce when it is just normal talk about a game.  Which is the literal picture you are trying to paint above.  I mean that’s exactly what you argued. if you start a thread that is about the future of the franchise at QB going forward at QB and what we should do or are thinking! Yeah, the anti Bryce crowd is going to very vocal on that thread because the literal topic is extending Bryce and the future at QB (which is what an anti Bryce position is literally about.  Moving on.  The future) This thread? I literally called out people in their feelings wanting to make this about Bryce and their hurt feelings eroding over.  You can find where I literally calls them out go make another Bryce thread if they didn’t want to talk Saints and the most relevant thing about them.  And the thread went exactly as we all knew it would.   Bryce deserved player of the week talk for Atlanta.  I have always acknowledged his great games.  A shame there are only two
    • Then the offense will be the same up and down underperforming offense they are this year and our FO are filled with idiots.
