Trade rumors may have validation

“(Peppers) was underdeveloped in Carolina,” said a pro scout who has studied Peppers closely. “When you have a rare talent like him, you have to move him around and give him an opportunity to make plays. Every year you heard the staff talking about finding new ways to create more opportunities for (Peppers), and it never happened. You can’t fault him for being upset. (Head coach) John Fox has lost part of the locker room, I know that.”

Where the eff else does this guy think Pep should have been moved to? WR??? He was moved all over the line last year like that guy says he should have been. Granted, he played mostly @ RDE, but he did move to LDE and played a little @ DT too if I am not mistaken. And I am sorry but he does NOT always require a double team. In fact, he was thwarted all too frequently by tackles I think he should have DOMINATED. BACKUP guys. I wonder if this scout is perhaps a friend of Pep's agent?

Yea, thats what I'm saying.. so that analyst saying he wasen't moved around enough doesn't know his crap even the slightest.

The thing hampering Peppers in Carolina is his desire to stay with the team and actually put in 100% full effort to be the best he can and help coach the other dlinemen and be a locker room leader.

Righto... Peppers could break the sack record if he really applied his ability on the field 100%. He's definatley more talented then what Michael Strahan ever was, but he doesn't have the heart to be a champion.

Its been obvious the Panthers have wanted to keep him basically at all costs (offering him a 80kk+ contract) the 16kk+ tender this year that he won't sign, and him having history of being in NC his entire footbal career. Just seems like either Peppers is losing his edge to the love of the game, or he just has no confidence in his suppourting cast.

Ehh, the article references "a pro scout", meaning "an unnamed pro scout", meaning "some guy I invented to stir things up and generate an article". Don't put too much stock into anything said.

    • This.  He knows where the seam is about to open, cuts, and accelerates hard. He’s slippery and tacklers always seem to be taking awkward angles to get to him. No dancing. Runs low and powerful. Almost never goes backwards for a loss. We’ve rarely had the guy who bounces off of tacklers. It’s nice seeing another one.
    • I can't speak for others but yes I read it. The conclusions are based heavily around the use of the statistical metric DYAR created by football outsiders and used by ESPN for this article. It only includes players whose production began in 2000. But excluding HOF running backs who produced BIG in an iteration of the NFL that was not yet catered to making things much easier for offenses in order for them to prop up more recent candidates is rather absurd and seems like just playing favorites regardless of where one might fall on their opinion of the use of the metric in question.
    • Same thing I first thought but then I saw it was against Jacksonville and took about half a second of playing to know. I was at that game.  I can't tell you my level of excitement when I saw it was Delhomme instead of Peete who came out for the 2nd half. Delhomme has and will probably always be my favorite Panther.
