Loving the fact that you guys aren't programmed to think how ESPN or NFLN thinks... Its about thinking how YOU would improve the team.. right now, I'd take my chances with the guys on defense coming back from injury...adding a few depth guys while adding a young threat on offense
who do we have coming back from injury that is going to fix the weakness that exists across from gamble?

adding another weapon on offense is a luxury...not a necessity at the moment.

there are just too many real needs that HAVE to be addressed right now. once the team is a bit more established and we have less weak spots to address and smith is actually showing signs of slowing down, then we can talk about WR.

right now we need to be focusing on DT, CB, OLB, RG, RT, FS. If you can limit your selections to those areas and go BPA from that, then you will be more on target. as it is, it just seems that you haven't really paid attention to what is going on in carolina.

people pay too much attention to the overall stats and think that since no one aside from smith has really stood out in the number of targets/receptions that must be a sign that we are weak there, but the truth is that we always have several targets for cam to choose from with typically 4 or 5 receiving options between WR/TE/RB. cam and this offense is at it's base a coryell offense, but it also takes a lot of cues from what cam did at auburn. it's essentially a spread offense that is opportunistic in that cam will look for the best targets if smith isn't a viable option. people used to ask who tom brady's #1 target is and the correct answer was "who is the open receiver?" and that's pretty much what is going on here.

the ball is getting spread around to whoever presents the best opportunity at that moment. as a result you'll see that he will hit probably 6 or 7 different receivers in any given game.

could he use a better target? what QB couldn't? of course he could, but it isn't essential at the moment. there are too many essentials and too much available talent to address them at the 8/9 spot to pass up.

Drafting a WR rarely ever helps a team right now, your you clearly don't know much about the panthers, a Career #2 receiver is not a need with the 8th or 9th pick.

You are under this misguided impression that every rookie WR can be AJ Green.

We have holes all over our defense to me this is cut and simple #6 offense vs #30 defense we have a all pro mlb returning and some DTs but we need a cover man and olb as well as a pass rush (DE).

We are not going to simply outscore the teams in our division we need defense.

    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
