Considering the poor play by the cats and the lack of threads I felt this conversation might be worth its own.

Considering this team is not very talented with three starters and a key reserve injured and Paul Silas coaching a lost season.

Should the 'Cats let Stephen Silas take over for the rest of the year. If the team isn't competitive and letting young guys learn through experience, why not see if Stephen could be the future coach. I say give him a shot if Paul isn't unofficially already. If anything it might be something to keep an eye for especially since Silas got tossed tonight which is rare for him.

Warriors coach Keith Smart may have said it most accurately when he described Stephen Silas as irreplaceable.

Silas on Wednesday left his post as the Warriors' second assistant coach to join the staff of his father, Paul, who was named interim coach in Charlotte. The move leaves Smart without his closest confidant in the organization and the Warriors' dynamic guard tandem without its mentor.

"I'm going to miss him a lot, man," point guard Stephen Curry said. "That was my go-to assistant for watching film, studying my game and continuing to learn. I always went to him for advice. Personally, he's my guy."

Silas got an offer - maybe a mandate - from his father early Wednesday, and the son couldn't turn down the opportunity to work with family, bump his role to top assistant and get a financial guarantee for the 2011-12 season. Silas' contract with the Warriors was to expire this summer.

His time with the Warriors had more impact than just his infectious smile and his title as second assistant, behind Jerry Sichting. This was Silas' fifth season with the Warriors, and he is credited with Monta Ellis' maturation as a player and leader and Curry's adjustment to playing point guard.

"He's like a brother to me, and he's very, very important to a lot of guys around here," Smart said. "We'll miss the man, the person who he is and his caring heart, but he also brought a lot of expertise to game preparation. We're going to miss everything about him."

Smart said he has at least a couple of guys in mind to fill the position. It's also possible that the Warriors will promote from within, moving Calbert Cheaney up a seat and making shooting coach Mark Price a full-time assistant.

Curry's father, Dell, played 16 seasons in the NBA and is working in Charlotte as a TV commentator for the Bobcats.

"I'm kind of jealous" of Silas, Curry said before issuing a joking trade demand. "I'm going to try to get my ticket for tonight, so I can be on the same flight."

Curry at 70 percent: Curry is aiming to return Saturday from a six-game break because of an ankle sprain. After doing agility drills for the first time since Dec. 8, however, the point guard deemed his ankle only 70 percent. He plans to participate in some controlled practice situations today.

"I'm feeling pretty good," he said. "Give me 48 hours, and I should be pretty close."

Brandan Wright talks: Power forward Brandan Wright practiced and then spoke publicly for the first time since injuring his lower back in mid-November. He couldn't describe what the injury was, and the Warriors have been quiet about the situation, but the team has always said it was inflamed disks.

Wright, who plans to play Saturday, said he initially felt the trouble in New York on Nov. 10. He played two more games before he went for an MRI. Because he didn't know how long the injury was going to sideline him, he said, he didn't want to put a timeline on it in the media.

"It was something that would easily shut anyone down, but I got back a little earlier than they thought," Wright said. "We haven't been playing well as a team, and we have a lot of other guys nicked up. I just want to get out there, even if it's five or six minutes. I want to be able to contribute. ... Maybe I can be a spark."

I watch all of their home practices before their games. Seems Stephen Silas does more of the coaching already.

Yeah and idk if Paul can take another year. Hes coached for a long time, been around the game for a long time, it might be the right situation for his son to learn and grow with this young team. Toss in a draft pick, get healthy and let Stephen take over. It would be better to find out sooner rather than later if Stephen has what it takes to be a Head coach.

In my honest option, Paul Silas is a good coach but he isn't built for the type of experiment that the Bobcats are undergoing this season! Fact is, Silas had success with the Charlotte Hornets - back in the day - with solid veterans like Eddie Jones, PJ Brown, Elden Campbell, etc. I just feel that he isn't great when it comes to teaching rookies and/or young inexperienced talent. He works wonders with veteran. That's it.

Larry Brown is the same way. Even he would struggle with this team. I really don't know what to do. Stephen Silas might be an answer, but honestly I look forward to continuing to suck and getting that #1 pick! I'm tired of us landing a #4 or #7 pick. We need that #1 guy who can bring us to another level and we aren't finding him in the middle of the first round.

Closest we got to a first pick was Okafor. He was no Dwight Howard. I want the top spot! We need the top spot! :)

Keep on sucking Bobcats! haha

      I just want to see a big guy with an NFL certified cannon arm suit up for the panthers again. To me, it will show that they are at least  trying to take the QB position in the direction it needs to go.   Will he throw picks? Yes. Probably a hell of a lot, but (for now) I’m strangely ok with that… for now. I at least need to see a dude that CAN make the throws with some semblance of accuracy.  This is the time to see what the QB whisperer is made of. The offensive talent is there. It’s certainly better than most rookie/journeymen QBs will ever step in to. If he can get a random dude playing at a JAG level, then I might be sold.  Andy could really surprise in the Buffalo game. He (for now) still has enough arm for Tet and XL to show what they’ve got, but we all know it’s only going to be good for 3-4 games, max. He has vet savvy, and that does account for a lot. He also has a full week of practice with all the snaps to prepare.  My best case scenario going forward: Andy plays the next 2 games nobly (winning one would be a huge bonus) giving White a chance to learn some of the playbook and develop chemistry with the players. Serviceable Andy turns in to old man Andy in game 3 and White takes the field after halftime.  A high ankle sprain (lol, sure it is) is an injury that can buy the team a LONG time for BY to ride the pine…. Maybe even IR. His peak trade value is now. Get what they can for this albatross. He’s now shown that he can be a mid level backup which does hold a significant value for the right team.  Not even in my wildest dreams do I see White being anything more than a JAG, but that’s ok. JAGs with a big arm make great bridge QBs that at least won’t have your play makers stagnating. Keeping BY under center is a 100% recipe for stagnating high ceiling (Tet/XL) dudes and/or not allowing them to take the next step in their development. Why even practice the good half of the playbook if the QB can’t make the throw? After a while, you’ve now got high ceiling guys who can only run a limited route tree. No thanks.

      They both outstanding players and both had monster games against Jets.  We gonna need it again this week with the bills.  Go Panthers!!!!

      Yeah okay fair enough.  Maybe the point is if you have a better system and players you can dumpster dive for a RB and if you don’t you have to shop top shelf. I dunno.    I would put my assets into the best OL I could get and let them make UDFA like Rico look like stars. As opposed to putting CMC behind a makeshift OL. And right now I don’t even remember who was on the OL when we took him, just sayin.
