Brockers Vs Cox

Fletcher Cox vs Kentucky. Fletcher was much better against the run, probably due to the inferior talent on Kentucky's roster. Very consistent big man, with a non stop motor. He got tired after play #40 and made no impact after that. This game solidified my projection of a Top 10 pick. I think he is a better prospect than Gerald McCoy whom went #3 overall, behind Suh. I am an Oklahoma fan, so that is hard for me to say.

43 Total Defensive Snaps

17 Total Impact plays

8 Plays He was double teamed

He got 3 TFL (Tackles for Loss)

10 hurries on the QB!

7 Hits on QB, including sacks

Ended Kentucky's Starting QB season with second sack.. rolled on his ankles

I counted 3 sacks, but ESPN lists that he had 2

He also would have had a 4th sack but he was held by the RB

1 Tech Impact plays= 0/1 Plays

3 Tech Impact plays= 11/31 Plays

5 Tech Impact plays= 6/11 Plays

I can't really say anything else about Cox. He is as consistent as they come. Relentless motor (especially for a big man). I think his energy will get our defense amp'd up. When you have 1 guy playing that hard, it makes others want to play that hard as well.

I will be making another thread for Jerel Worthy, as his stock is gaining momentum, and could be a trade down option.

Assuming we will be in a Jimmy Johnson type defense and Ron Edwards is penciled in at NT who would make more sense and why?

The 3-tech would make the most sense. Jimmy's defense is about creating pressure on the QB. We don't have a DT who can do that consistently, and they are rare in the league. Cox is a very rare prospect with his insane burst.

If we trade down too far, we won't be able to get Fletcher Cox. He is a Top 15 Pick. I watched Jerell Worthy, and he is a notch below Brockers in run defense, and a notch below Cox is pass rushing. He is kind of a jack of all trades, and a master of none. Very good player though.. I'd put him with a solid 1st round grade.

I feel we could trade down quite far and still pick up Brockers if he is our intended target.

You never use that logic if you have a specific guy in mind. Whenever you trade down you have to be willing to have the top players on your board go in order from the pick you surrendered until the pick that you have. Soif you trade down from 9 to 15 you have to be willing for the top 7 of your highest rated guys to be gone and be satisfied with who is left. Otherwise you don't trade down at all but pick up who you want at the pick you have. This whole notion that you reached at 9 for a player that guys graded as a number 15 pick is ridiculous. The difference between 9 and 15 for example is negligible.

I believe Brockers is a late 1st round pick. 25-32.

Wait, I thought Brockers was the better player yesterday...

After watching 1 game from both players, Brockers was the better player. After watching 3 games per player, it became clear that I was wrong. I feel Cox is the better overall player due to his pass rush ability. Brockers will be very limited in that regard.

Well that's why you don't judge players off one game or make such statements.. You have to get a feel by watching them as a whole.

Yea.. that's basically what I just said. I admitted I was wrong. Not only do I think Cox is the better player, I think he will go a good 15-20 spots higher than Brockers in the draft.

    • Yes, more recently. The way duke fans act you'd think they'd won five of the last ten or something crazy when they've actually won zero if the last ten. They haven't even even played in a championship ship game in the last decade. Carolina has played in three. For all the elite NBA talent that has come through Durham, duke is in a woeful championship drought. Duke fans used to talk all kinds of poo about how Carolina failed to win titles with Stackhouse/Wallace and Carter/Jamison and honestly they had a point. We should've gotten a title or two out of those teams. But man, duke's current run of elite talent with no titles puts that to shame.
    • LOL, what? No one has said anything close to that.
    • In response to mailbag questions about drafting a center from Observer, Zietlow gives this infO  From Alex The Panthers, after all, aren’t going to be as stacked with interior offensive linemen who can be converted into centers as they were last year. Cade Mays is already gone to Detroit. Austin Corbett moved on to Buffalo. Brady Christensen might still come back, but his future is murky too … and he ruptured his Achilles five months ago.   Keylan Rutledge. The guard out of Georgia Tech has received high marks in the pre-draft process, and if he drops to the Panthers at No. 51 somehow, they should take him. He worked at guard and center during the 2026 Senior Bowl.   Jake Slaughter. The 6-foot-5, 303-pound center out of Florida really impressed at the NFL Scouting Combine in February, notably with a 5.1-second 40-yard dash time. He’s a center by trade, and coach Dave Canales likes athletic centers who can get to the second level of the defense. Slaughter is projected to be a third- or fourth-round pick.   Billy Schrauth. Another draft, another Notre Dame draft pick?At least, it’s possible with Schrauth, the 6-foot-5, 310-pound interior offensive lineman and team captain. He spent most of his college career at guard, but reports indicate a transition to center would be easy for him. He’s projected to be a Day 3 pick.
