My Case For Brandon Thompson Dt

I'm a big Clemson fan and I've watched ever single game Brandon Thompson has played. If we want a wall against the run he's the best out there. Watch his tape. He never goes backwards. He's constantly and I man constantly double teamed. I've seen him get triple teamed. His first step is nasty and he can split that double team. After he going in one direction he does have a problem redirecting but a smart LB will flow to that open hole as he'll leave the RB with only one hole to choose from.

We've got Luke now (along with other awesome LB's already on the team) and if we really want a DT that will always command a double team and clog the middle so that those LB can do their thing then we should so take this guy.

Look at this tape vs South Carolina. Watch for the following.

How many times he double teamed.

How man times he splits those double teams.

How many times his penetration redirects the play.

What he does when he's single covered.

How much he pushes the pocket.

Clemson defensive linemen are all busts. I can't think of one that has panned out in the last 5 years.

He just needs to learn to set himself when defending the run. TFLs are fun but he often blows right past the ballcarrier. He's a little raw but it's nothing Rivera and Co. couldn't fix. I'd be happy to have him.
