Some Don't Want Cam Scoring On The Ground ?

Just what running QB's are you guys referring too when you say "running QB's don't last long in the NFL"? Vick? McNabb? Cunningham? Culpepper? Young? Who? What QB's career was shortened due to injury from running the ball?

Randall Cunningham did it for 17 years and that's exactly who Newton compares to. A great runner and thrower.

If Cam "exactly" compares to Cunnigham, we should give it up now, we will not win a Super Bowl.

Seriously tho, no one compares 'exactly' to anyone else...esp. when Cam is 1 of them.

Look at Cunningham's and Newton's numbers from last season. They're almost identical.

Newton: 4051 yards passing and 706 yards rushing

Cunningham's highest rushing season is 942 and has 4 seasons over 500 yards (2 of those over 600) and 5 seasons of at least 3200 yards passing (his highest being 3808).

The Eagles could've won a Super Bowl with Cunningham. It's not his fault because he did his part.

I don't think you were responding to my post, but just using your cherry picked examples (I say that b/c we all cherry pick, but I am using 'your' examples:

Vick: How many seasons has he actually played all games without being injured? Wide list of injuries that kept him out.

Culpepper: 5 good seasons, then went off the cliff

Cunningham: I'll give you that 1

Young: Played a full seasons in only 3 out of his 15 year career

Sorry but after Randell's knee injury he was never the runner he was before and became more of a pocket passer as well.

From 85-94 (10 seasons), Cunningham had 8 seasons of at least 200 yards rushing. Two of those include totals of 205 and 288. Three seasons of 540, 505, 549 yards rushing. Two more seasons of 621 and 624 yards rushing. And then his highest total of 942.

Later in his career he gained 127 yards rushing in 1997 and 132 yards rushing in 1998.

You know you're including seasons where they sat him because they already made the playoffs and also the seasons where they still had Joe Montana right?

Vick and Culpepper were not great throwers which is why they ran more often so they shouldn't have been mentioned.

If people are going to compare Cam's running to some other runner that got hurt, it's got to be with someone who didn't have to rely on his legs so much because he was such a worthless piece of crap quarterback like Vick. If they have the throwing ability, thats what extends their careers.

Cunningham played maybe, & I'm being generous, 6 complete seasons for his career. He has a significant injury history. He retired in '95 b/c he was benched for our own former QB Rodney Peete. Came back in '97 to the Vikes where he had 2 good years & was benched again. He was a backup for the Ravens his final year before he permanently retired form football.

You tell me, but that's not what I think Cam's career is going to look like.

I was hoping someone would bite on those names because Cam is nothing like Vick and Young in physical stature. I know that no one is invincible but both of those players are like children physically compared to Cam.

Yes. I also included the 2 full seasons where he led the pathetic Bucs to nothing & got traded to the 49rs.

I agree with your take on Vick, but I didn't start that discussion...just was lending perspective.

I agree, BUT...6'2" 215lbs. is definitely comparable in '85 to 6'5" 250lbs. today. Back then you didn't have DEs running faster than RBs. Players are MUCH bigger now than when Young was playing. Vick is a little boy compared to Cam, + Vick runs 'stupidly' & Cam does not.
