Top 5 Favorite Rappers

Recommended Posts

Old skool:

Run DMC

LL CoolJ (old)

B.I.G.

KRS One

Tupac

I didn't get into rap until like 2008 or so, especially when conscious hip-hop really started to make a rise again. Cudi and B.o.B's crossover sounds first got me hooked.

I definitely respect the old school stuff, I just entered the game too late to really appreciate it.

Jesus Christ...No offense but that list is garbage. I see you only started listening to rap in 08' though but you gotta do some research dude...

I don't like making "greatest of all time" lists so here is my top 5 favorite.

1. Tupac

2. Pharaohe Monch

3. Atmosphere

4. The Grouch/Living Legends

5. Wale

My favorite dead or alive are:

1. Eminem

2. Notorious B.I.G

3. Tupac

4. Big Pun

5. DMX / LL CoolJ/Dr. Dre/JayZ (didn't want to leave any of them off)

As far as the newer stuff, I like:

BoB

Drake

Lupe

Cudi

Nikki Minaj (yeah I went there)

But I am a 38 year old white guy that mostly listens to sports talk radio so my opinionis most likely is invalid....

Hip-Hop is my life. Seriously. But being so passionate has got me to meet some awesome people. I've met Nas, Drake, Wale, Big Sean, Akon, Black Cobain, Common, Slaughterhouse, Currency, Tyga, A$AP Rocky, and Kendrick Lamar.

My top 5 are -

1. Tupac

2. Lil Wayne

3. The Game

4. Nas

5. Jay-Z/Kanye

People always ask me Lil Wayne? But that dude is amazing in his prime, and outside of his mainstream stuff. Check out Tha Carter II, Carter III Sessions, Dedication 1 & 2, Da Drought 2 & 3, No Ceilings, the Prefix. He could rap with the best of em'.

My current top 5 or the people I listen to the most lately are -

1. 2Pac

2. Wayne

3. Kendrick Lamar

4. Ab-Soul & Schoolboy-Q

5. J. Cole

    • If Henderson just got a concussion and will possibly/probably now miss next week as well, gotta think missing 2 games of stats at this point of the year might knock him out as he was only just entering the discussion the last few weeks anyways.  Same goes for Judkins going down today too, and Dart's god awful game likely removes him from the conversation as well. It will be interesting to see how the voters compare T-Mac and Egbuka if they end up with stats that are nearly identical. Egbuka burst onto the scene and put up the bulk of his stats early in the year when Baker was playing like the MVP front runner.  While T-Mac was just more consistent throughout the course of the full season (ex. Egbuka has 8 games of 42 yards or less, T-Mac has 4 of them, while T-Mac still scored 3 TDs in those 4 games, where Egbuka only scored 1 TD in his 8). It would be a shame if they put too much weight on the final game of the season if that ends up being the division decider, as I think T-Mac has had the better SEASON while Egbuka had a better peak output during that first month or so but way cooled off since. Maybe Warren goes off in the last 3 games (they still play tomorrow), but it does seem to be down to T-Mac and Egbuka right now.
    • Mitchell Evan’s put a block on someone that he drove them all the way out of bounds and to the bench. He absolutely destroyed the guy. He’s gonna be a beast for us if he keeps that up.
    • Yall... stop taking a sample size and projecting a role player into a permanent starter cuz he had a decent year after what, 5? Come on
