Reggie Smith, Starting Free Safety Candidate

lol. doesnt change the fact that we are paying them millions of dollars to perform and succeed in a sporting event which is culturally important to ALL of us.

they can make mistakes in an existential, philosophical, "were all human" type of way. but they can't make mistakes when we want to win a superbowl. me, and everyone else (lol grammar) will critiscize these players until they are perfect and we have a lombardi trophy.

otherwise it means nothing.

judging by the rest of your posts in this thread you are obviously very mad about something and you have an ego about yourself that is most likely unwarranted. Marting and Pugh are fuging awful, if you had any sense you would realize that we SHOULD and COULD be doing much better then them. this thread is just throwing up another candidate that could potentially be better and improve our defense by an invaluable amount.

one player won't turn around a defense. but the right players at every position will.

actually this thread has tried to prove one of the candidates will be the starter by using stats that favor the situation. When the stats were questioned, the brat got mad and threw a tantrum.

your psychoanalysis of me judging by this one thread notwithstanding, you should read a little more.

and there is absolutely nothing culturally important about the sport of football. if anything it brings out the worst of the idiots and turns intelligent people away creating a rift between the haves and the have nots (intellectually speaking). In case you or anyone else needs a translation, the weak minded tend to let blind emotion and rage take over and essentially take control of their actions all based on the perceived success or failure of a sports team while the stronger minded watch them implode into an adolescent meltdown and repeat.."damn dude. it's just a game"

cultural importance.. about as much as gladiator arenas and guillotines, that's it.

now you are gonna play dumb. Give yourself a little credit. You don't have to play.

Dude seriously talk football, or shut the fug up.

If you believe you are of a higher intellectualism just because you adhere to the idea that "It's just a game" then you are really misguided. Football will always be culturally important. The fact that it is a game is just that, nothing else.

It is far too complicated and long winded to explain to you the cultural significance of things like the gladiators of rome, the guillotine of old, and the games of now.

Your whole comment about the "haves and the have nots" is asinine and actually makes no sense. In fact your entire post was very cliched. You turned this thread into a poo roll, and while I hate threads that are nothing but senseless bickering between people but come on man,

Bwood made a good point! This dude can Dougie and I think I'd like to see him on the field replacing one of our guys who is SERIOUSLY lacking a good Dougie or reason to crank one......

awesome

I really hate it would take you that long to explain something to me about culture.

All things considered to be cultural are class dependent. the arena and the guillotine were efforts of the higher class to appease the easily distracted and intellectually challenged lesser class.

such is pro sport today.

if you were from ancient Rome or alive during the French revolution and identified yourself by the arena or the guillotine as a defining factor of your culture then you would be of the have-not variety. Much like an inner city kid today would identify his culture with constant shootings, drug dealing, dog-fighting, and other random lawlessness.

Maybe we are different, but when I think of culture, the f-cking NFL and its laundry list of law-breaking thugs, cheating coaches, and money-grabbing owners is not what comes to mind. Its entertainment. Smile and dance for me. I love the Panthers and I hope they win but I'm not going to lose it emotionally if somebody disagrees with me on a message board.

Haha you may not lose it emotionally but you really do have a problem when you disagree with someone. besides, despite your wonderful definition of your "have and have nots" quote your still missing the point. Football, and the Panthers specifically, are a key part of the cultural bond of our society.

all im really trying to say by that is that it is important to me, and many others, that the Panthers do good which is why I browse this forum with everyone else and we all throw our opinions out into the diaspora.

while you certainly love to insult and put others down, and truly your understanding of the guillotine is remarkable, I think the Panthers are a defining factor in your life (regardless of what "class" you identify with) because otherwise you would not be posting here with everyone else. Therefore we should all make an effort to keep our arguments and posts more about football then about putting others down.

And knowing nothing about Smith as a player I would like to see him making a significant impact on the outcome at the safety position. If he can play maybe we can shore up a much needed spot on our defense without spending money on a vet.

You know you lost when there's nobody agreeing with you, and everyone is agreeing with me. That's when it was over.

Later bro.

No one ever loses on the huddle. They only suffer minor set backs to there "winning " strategy.
