Predict the Panthers record - game by game version

Recommended Posts

That would be foolish, I'm glad I'm not doing that. I don't think this fact has yet sunk in with you however.

I can see why you pick us to have a losing record, though. From your perspective, we win games by throwing a "prayer" "hail mary pass" that is a "fluke" and "alot of it was luck" I guess our players all had horseshoes up their ass last year. Takes a LOT of luck to go 12-4

Good! So you finally admit there is nothing wrong with picking us to split with the saints since they are a good football team and last year has nothing to do with this year. That wasnt so hard to admit was it?

Did the panthers win all 12 games with fluke hail mary passes at the end of a game? Not to my knowledge. They feasted on cup cake and mediocre teams. Thats how they went 12-4!

Actually, I never said anything like this. I merely pointed out (for the 4th time now I believe) that I'm not simply carrying over what happened from last year. I'm making judgment calls based on talent, using previous play to judge this talent. Reading comprehension isn't your strong point I'm guessing.

I fully understood what you wrote. Its nice to see you backpedaled off of your original statement though. Saying thats its wrong to predict a split with the saints just because we swept them last year is a little bit silly. Glad you finally came around.

Yeah I know who their QB is... its Mark Sanchez. Teams have won with rookie qbs you realize I hope. Remember the ass whooping the falcons put on us with a rookie QB? Remember the ravens going to the afc title game with a rookie QB?

I dont think its more likely we would win that game.

If you really think it's likely that Sanchez makes an impact as quickly as Ryan or Flacco then that pretty much sums up you're knowledge about football.

There's no backpedaling off original statements. It just took you awhile to realize that I'm making these calls on talent, not simply carrying over past records.

Then put your money where your mouth is. You said the panthers will be heavy favorites at New York against the Jets. Im betting you that barring any major injuries the jets will be favored in that game. If my football knowledge is so limited then you will take me up on that challenge right?

No, you said it was wrong for me to predict a split with the saints because we swept them last year as if last year determines the out come of all future division games. Now you are changing your mind all of a sudden because you realize how silly that is.

I'll take a bet that we win that game. And not with any of this "barring any major injuries" crap, that's a risk you take with both teams.

Maybe it came across to you like that. I was bringing up past games as evidence that we have more talent, as is apparent if you watched these games. And more talent, generally means you will be more likely to win in the future. Also, note that I brought up their draft to show the very limited talent they have added. I guess you just failed to make these connections, I will spell everything out more clearly in the future.

Sheesh you're back pedaling AGAIN? You "guaranteed" me that the panthers would be heavy favorites at the jets so why not back up your guarantee? Are you afraid now? And injuries are a huge factor because if the panthers were to lose Steve Smith and John beason for the year you would be backing off of this bet. Thats why I said barring any major injuries to both teams. Do we have a deal or are you back pedaling off of your guarantee?

And as I also pointed out to you the saints had the most injuries of anyone in the league and still had the #1 offense and finished 8-8. And as I also pointed out they had some nice additions to thier defense as well. I guess you failed to make those connections as well that they will be alot tougher than they were last year. I will spell everything out to make things more clearly next time. :)

No I didn't, read it again. You're the one that said flat out guarantee. As I said before, there's no guarantee in football.

A "major" injury is somewhat subjective. I would never make a bet with that in it. I'd rather make a concrete, win or lose bet, and yes I'm willing to take that bet.

And as I also pointed out to you the saints had the most injuries of anyone in the league and still had the #1 offense and finished 8-8. And as I also pointed out they had some nice additions to thier defense as well.

They have the most injuries because they sign a bunch of players with high injury risk. They've already had two guys go on IR for the year, and TC hasn't even started. One of the "nice additions" you brought up was Dan Morgan. He's not an injury risk at all right? Every team makes additions, I don't think they've improved enough that they will beat us. You can disagree, that's fine.

"I can almost guarantee that we will be heavy favorites in that game"

Sounds close enough to a guarantee to me. What? You're not so confident anymore? Sure sounds like you are backpedaling to me. If my football knowledge is so limited then you should have no problems taking me up on this challenge.

Its highly unlikely that saints just signed people that were all injury prone and they all ended up on IR and it highly unlikely they will have 14 players on IR again this year. You're right I do have a right to disagree which is why I did. Then why are you pouting about it?

    • and they don’t get paid and teams don’t keep playing them
    • Then if he needs time to grow up and he is going to sign an extension in needs to be a 3 year, 20m AAV. He doesn't deserve to get paid like a top 10 QB right now because he's not. Daniel Jones is getting 14m and is playing top notch football.  He may have had some better games, but his mechanics and footwork are still terrible when he feels any pressure, real or not. When he feels good, he steps into his throws like he should. When he doesn't, it's that body squared up or jumping arm toss or tip toe lob. His fumbling is a huge problem. He cant run QB sneaks. He cant really play from under center because his drop backs are terrible and he needs to be far back to get enough gapping to see the field. That's not top 10 QB contract worthy.  And let's not pretend that Bryce is some victim in all of this. Remember him packing on 20 lbs before the combine for the weigh in and walking around in a hoodie the entire time or practicing that S2 test that no one has mentioned before or since so he'd have better results, or riding that hype train like the wheels weren't ever going to fall off. Stroud got roasted and torn apart because of a "leaked" S2 result. He was being portrayed as an idiot while Bryce was being portrayed as a savant. All Stroud ever said was watch me play football. He proved his point.  Bryce did everything he could to make himself the number 1 overall pick and when that happens, guess where you're going? To a bad team, likely with a new coach and it's probably going to be full of dysfunction especially if the owner is Dave Tepper. But the real dysfunction came because Bryce wasn't Reich's choice for QB. He wanted Stroud because Stroud fit the type of offense he ran better than Bryce ever could. That's why he lost interest as soon as he was drafted. He was forced to play Bryce when it was obvious he wasn't ready to show off Tepper's shiny new draft pick. No HC is going to come to a team when he gets no choice over who he has as a QB to build around and he has to reinvent the wheel when the easiest thing to do was just buy the wheel that fit to begin with. Tepper lied to Reich all the way up until draft day, then he made that pick. Then Reich checked out, and i don't blame him one bit. And I'll be clear, I didn't want Reich. I wanted Steichen because of what he's doing in Indy or Ryans because I thought he would make one hell of a leader and HC.  Reich was a HC with no control over his own team. I put the majority of what's gone wrong involving Bryce on Tepper. The trade gave up too much in picks and DJ to build around him, we had a horrid GM who couldn't draft or build a roster, a QB forced to play before he's ready, an owner that thinks he knows more than football people.    There's a lot of moving pieces in all of this, but we cant pay Bryce 50m AAV at the end of this season while he figures it out, and the 5th year doesnt make sense either if we're a run heavy offense with Bryce as game manager. You dont need a 30m, 5th year option QB for that. If he's not there developmentally, he's not there.  Unfortunately, there isnt time to just calm down. He plays like a game manager this year and we have to move on. You dont give game managers huge contracts behind the highest paid oline in football, especially when you need to sign your LT. Any journeyman can give us Bryce level results for 15m less per year. Just the way it is. If there was more time, maybe. Unfortunately there isn't. Just the way it is.
    • We’ve had opportunities to take 2 of the top 5 Cs in the game and instead we took TMJ and Johnathan Brooks. Our drafts since 2017 have been 1 player per draft and then huge misses on lots of really good NFL players (who the huddle have talk about in the draft threads). It’s been mentioned here so many times to draft more OL once you get to the 2nd and beyond since C/G talent is top tier in day 2 and lots of surprise day 3 guys. Taking Brooks over Frazier just looks worse and worse as our OL helps Chuba and Rico look great and Frazier would be a large improvement over Mays.
