Cats trying to acquire Landry through sign and trade

Recommended Posts

While no deal between Charlotte and New Orleans is imminent, these sign-and-trade discussions are the reason that Landry hasn’t signed a deal with Golden State. The Warriors want to sign Landry outright, but the power forward would likely make more money if he were to be signed-and-traded to the Bobcats. He’s weighing his options and is no rush to make a decision. HoopsWorld

Hoopsworld is reporting that the Bobcats are attempting to acquire Carl Landry in a sign-and-trade with the Hornets, according to sources close to the situation.

The Hornets just acquired Ryan Anderson to play PF and want to get something of value for FA Landry, rather than letting him walk for free. The Bobcats have struggled to find the right PF as Byron Mullens has more of a midrange game and Tyrus Thomas has continually disappointed when given his chances. Landry would add a toughness to the 'Cats front line and if he does end up in Charlotte, we like his chances to carve out considerable fantasy value -- he could easily be a 15 point and seven rebound guy in the right situation.

Even more awesome? Someone posted a tweet from Bill Ingram or someone credible off of twitter and they said that the Hornets are interested in Gana Diop.

How awesome would that be? To get Landry for Diop, whether Diop is an expiring or not, I never thought anyone would trade for him.

When the h3ll are we going to get this deal in work? So we won't be talking Tony Mitchell next year ;)

Bismack really needs to come off the bench while Haywood and Landry starts. That will only benefit Biz for the future. He's rawer than raw steak right now.

Landry needs to be a Cats already.

Unrestricted FA Carl Landry is expected to make his decision in the next few days.

"There are a lot of teams pursuing (Landry), because he's probably the premier unrestricted free agent on the market," his agent Mark Bartelstein said. While that's likely just Landry's agent building up his market, it shouldn't take much longer for Landry to make a decision. He has been linked to the Warriors and Bobcats most prominently. "He just has to weigh his different options," Bartelstein added.

'"Landy, it seems is going to get a larger offer elsewhere. (Charlotte can offer more than GSW). He would like to play for the Warriors, but it sounds unlikely he'd take less money to play for GSW." writes Thompson'...

'That could put the Bobcats in good position, but if they don't come to the table with significantly more money than the Warriors, Landry could settle for joining the more talented team.' - Joe Kaiser

    • Its completely and utterly bootlicking at this point.  If you cannot acknowledge that using 3 picks on a rb with a torn acl in the 2nd round isnt a bad pick then you simply havent a clue about football.  Sorry man it is what it is.  And its insanely laughable you are trying to strawman this argument using other players.  And what fuging facts are you bringing that is justifing morgan using 3 goddamn picks on him?  I cannot wait to hear that.
    • Scourton's interviews are telling to me that it's only a matter of time before he could really put it together.  His limitation tool-wise that I see is in his bend, but at the leaner size, it looks like it wasn't a problem at Purdue.   He has a good moveset and reads leverages very well (vet level well).  Plays both the speed/quickness (great change of direction) and has a power game with good hand usage.  Moves from what I've seen in my digs: I'm seeing cross-chop, fake crossers into bull, bull rush, spin (his preferred move of choice), hand shuck.  He's not unrefined by any means.   If he can do 2 things---I'm feeling confident from seeing his interviews that we have a real dude on our hands: 1) Diversifying his moveset/how it's deployed - Over-reliant on some, but again, he has a growing palette.  And is already great with his hands so things are in-place to coach up. 2) Developing a counter moveset and starting to play the chess game with an OT - He's very good at reading leverage, knowing when to change things up during a play.  But NFL coaching should start to teach him how to really create a plan based on an opponent.  What to throw at a guy first, how to confuse with fakes/counters, etc.  How to play against these tackles as a game progresses.   Overall, he has some things that give me serious optimism: Run Defense, speed moves, power moves, he's super young and has the size/length.  When you really spell it all out, I think we should get excited.  Temper expectations from a stat sheet standpoint, but he should be able to go in and make an impact.
