Napa Vacation Starts Sunday

Anybodyhome

Recommended Posts

Flying out of Greensboro Sunday morning and will land in San Francisco at noon (PST) after a short layover in Chicago. We're staying as guests of one of the wineries for 4 days and then spending 3 days in San Francisco before flying home next Saturday.

I lived in Napa for about a year and a half in 75-76 after I came back from SE Asia, before there were hundreds of wineries and before it got so commercial. We're fortunate to have some private tours and tastings at a few other wineries and will even get some private culinary lessons in one of the kitchens.

Taking a 4-hour hot air balloon ride at sunrise through the Napa Valley Monday morning which should make for some awesome pictures. Might actually shoot a few with our Panther swag on and have them published in the Roar. Done that a couple times from the Caribbean in the past.

My first vacation in over a year and I'm used to taking a couple every year. But since my dog was run over almost a year ago, his surgery and recovery now complete and all I want to do everyday is come home and see him. You'd think nothing ever happened to him now.

Excellent. I have never been to Napa but spent some time in Sonoma this year and just returned from a four-day trip to the Finger Lakes to take in lots of Riesling, Gewurz, Ices, and improving reds at the Finger Lakes.

Glad your dog has recovered and your able to get out for a vacation. Would love a report on the places you visited when you get back.

I'd have to hit Yosemite if I was that close.

Yeah, love Yosemite, but haven't been there since my little brother died in a climbing accident on El Capitan when he was 20 years old. That was in 1980 and still don't want to relive that.

do yourself a favor and do the Alcatraz tour....you'll love it

Yeas, done it a few times and find it absolutely fascinating. They do night tours now, but they're booked solid weeks in advance.

Since all of us have been to SF and 2 of us have extensive Napa experience, we're going to do the non-tourist stuff, the off-the-wall places to see... I really want to see the America's Cup catamarans- they look unbelievable... and the Cup will be won by the US in SF Bay next year.

    • oh you think you're better than me because i'm drunk before 1
    • Bryce hasn’t played well enough to justify that sort of extension. If the organization wants to roll with him at QB moving forward, any extension they offer should be commensurate with his play. For “passable” QB play (however you want to define that…I use the term generally to mean that he’s a game manager that you can win with if you build the rest of the team right but that he’s going to limit your ceiling and potentially lose you some games here and there; I do not think he‘s “the guy.”), the going rate is going to be a lot lower. Something more in the 3 years 45 million range. And if Young thinks he can get more elsewhere, then he’s free to try to do so.    Whether that would be an OK decision depends entirely on the answer to the premise of this thread. Do you think you can meaningfully improve on Young? If the answer is no, whether yet be due to lack of attractive options in the draft or free agency and no one willing to trade a good QB for a decent price, then I don’t have a problem with rolling with Bryce (sans 5th year extension and/or with a reasonable contract) and taking some late in the draft flyers and exploring worse options (but better than Dalton) in free agency.  Paying less for a QB does allow for the flexibility to build strength elsewhere on the roster, and then you hope you can upgrade from Bryce later.
    • No .  He got paid and is rich now.  not saying that is it 100% but it wouldn't be the first time we have seen something similar happen to not so hungry players.
