I love FIfa games. I'll def pick it up but yeah It's always felt like the controls will let you down at times.

Been playing Madden and Fifa for too many years to count. Madden used to be my favorite sports game, although now that I actually think about it, I think Fifa currently is for me. Only bummer every year for fifa is that there us no multiplayer "franchise" mode. Me and a couple of friends always want to have one and are let down every year. I am really surprised they haven't added it, if not for americans, there have to be millions of europeans that want to play together with their clubs. I also wish they would have a multiplayer form of the superstar mode or whatever it is called, i forgot. They had it in World Cup 2010, but the best version of it was Euro 2008 I think. You actually created your own player, and only played with him in the games, and you would get xp based on you well you played. World Cup 2010 dropped it down so that only 1 player could be created on the team, instead of multiple users creating players. Ill take either or, cant have everything I want...

PS: Any of you play Football Manager?

Yeah I've played all of them over the years but actually Pro Evolution is more popular in Europe. It's considered a better game in terms of physics. It just lacks the Licenses. I played PES2012 because I had a Wii at the time and it was 17 bucks brand new. Was a great game. I'm going to buy ps3 FIFA this year so hopefully it's good. I tend to avoid multiplayer because there is always a weakness in the AI and everyone finds it and exploits it. Or makes a dumb formation.

I love the geometry of soccer games. Stringing together neat passes to break down the D. Also a game takes about 12 minutes so it's easy to put down the controller and do other things if you need to.

But definitely I enjoyed playing as just 1 player and trying to influence the game and win man of the match without controlling everyone.

Apparently they are adding some new features to the career mode. Some highlights-

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2012/jul/23/fifa-13-ea-sports-news

EA Sports has announced a bunch of new features for Fifa 13. Key among them is the decision to add an international element to the game's in-depth Career mode. Whether you're taking part as a player or a manager, good performances may earn you an international call-up. For managers, that will mean abandoning your domestic side for a new life as a national coach.

To enhance the authenticity of the career element, inexperienced players and young virtual pros can now be sent out on loans from their chosen clubs. "It's another big fan request," says Rutter. "It allows you to pick up experience rather than sitting on the bench and having no fun."

For transfers, the concept of part-exchanges has been added, so if managers can't afford the players they want to buy in, they can offer cash, plus members of their own squad.

Could be cool, but we will have to see how its been implemented

I agree, I would much rather be involved in great buildup play than finish the ball with a header or something like that. Only real scoring I really enjoy are drilling long shots.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm pretty disappointed in this game. It has an absurd amount of flaws.

Passing will always let you down. It's ridiculous. I have had games where I had 14+ shots on target and nothing goes in, then they have 2 shots on target and both go in. The penalties they call are just fuging out of control and extremely one-sided. All-in-all, I'm not pleased with this game.

Shooting is hard, but I think I'm getting it. I definitely suggest messing with the sliders, it helps keep the CPU in check. The game seems harder than previous years, I've been switching between Professional and World Class trying to find a good balance.

The career mode is fugin boss though, being able to play world cup games with your player or land a manager job right before a big international tournament is awesome. You get way too many job offers though, if you manage a couple of seasons you will be offered the manager job of nearly every country in the game. Also, why is Arsenal offering me a job in January when they are in 3rd place in the PL?

    • Just because all draft picks are a gamble doesn't mean you don't have a better chance at hitting on a better player the higher you're drafting. It would literally be like someone saying, I'll give you 1 or 2 free spins on a slot machine, and you say you'll take the 1 because you're not likely to win anything anyways with 1 or 2, so why bother? The Cowboys desperately wanted T-Mac, but because they were 4 picks behind us, they weren't able to get him.  If you told Cowboys fans that had they lost 2 more games last year in a lost season, that it would get them the player they wanted so badly, would they in retrospect go back and lose those games to get their guy? 95% of them would take that trade off in a heartbeat, and the others who wouldn't are the fans who would rather enjoy an extra win or two in a poo season to then set themselves up to be better for the next decade. I also think the fans who argue against this thinking, get too caught up in the "well that means you're going to be rooting against us late in the season even if we still have a shot at the playoffs." Which isn't true, it's saying if you're telling me right now we'd make the playoffs but lose in the first round, that I'd rather end up 8-9 or 9-8 and just miss the playoffs because in our opinion, the benefits that come along with that outweigh the benefit of the players getting 1 game of playoff experience.
    • In relation to tanking. I think you can count on one hand the number of people here who actually want us to lose football games. When accounting for it across the fanbase it amounts to maybe 2% of the entire Panthers fanbase. But you engage with some internet trolls and think haters are coming out of the woodwork and hey look at that it's all a conspiracy that leads to Bryce Young haters. Do you hear yourself sir? If it sounds ridiculous that's because it is. I mean at this point do you see Bryce haters in your dreams? As far as the culture of this franchise goes we seem to be doing better in that department via what we are building right now and with the people we have in place. But we also shouldn't just make assumptions just yet either. The rubber still needs to meet the road. And going back to previous seasons I think we can acknowledge although tanking obviously isn't a thing there were some times where we thought our culture was improving but really it wasn't. Yes I'm looking directly at some of those wins under Wilks. If the culture had truly changed we would not have lost to the Steelers who have been mediocre for years at home the way we did and they were starting Mitch Trubisky ffs. We did not change our culture for the better and we won games that ultimately meant nothing. It was just a brief mirage. We've done this for years now. The harsh truth of the matter is the Panthers have not had a winning season or been to the playoffs in going on 8 years but in those years they've been trying to convince themselves they aren't poo but in the process all they've done throughout most of that time period is squander better draft position and we were still the worst team in the league for our troubles. At the end of the day we should be able to just be adults and reconcile with that. And no that isn't being "pro tank" or any other boogeyman term it's simply recognizing reality.
    • He's an asset in a game manager role. But as soon as you have to ask him to go out there and try to make plays and not just take what the defense is giving him... well, Darnolding happens.
