Ugly personnel decisions on the way

The Panthers dont "trade" any of their starters.. They never have. Regardless of any new GM, expect this philosophy to continue. That progressively senile old man in the Ivory Tower - he never trades starters, and he'll never spend big money in Free Agency.

He cuts high priced players or lets them walk. Does piddly trades for bench-warmers and 6th and 7th round draft picks, picks up old players past their prime in free agency if theyre available for a song.

You guys know all this.. Why pretend something else is actually gonna happen?

They will almost have to. Many people didn't expect JR to hire a consultant for the GM search, he wants to win. And he's willing to change his ways to do so.

I don't know, I have to disagree with that statement.

I love Beason as much as the next guy, one of my all-time Panther favorites. However, I think we have the next Urlacher on our hands, something really special that will be a force for years. He is leading all rookies in tackles and looks very comfortable in the MLB position, why damper his progression and put in an aging vet? Unless Beason seriously restructures his contract, moves to the outside, or just takes a leadership role, I think we should pay our respects and let him catch on with another team. Always hate to see a guy like Beason go but it's for the better...

The next Urlacher, get the fug outta here, he is okay for now hopefully he will continue to get better as each game goes bye but I wouldn't go that far.

Ron Edwards has actually earned his $ this season.

Gamble/Gross/DWill

Anderson is average, being paid above average.

Beason will redo his deal I think.

Exactly on Edwards.

After seeing how bad our DT's were before Edwards, anyone who thinks he is not worth $3m a year is officially brain dead.

Jesus Christ.

This thread shows that most of you are even crazier than I thought.

There is now no wondering why none of you have jobs that require important decisions....because you all suck at it.

Like you with trying to trade Cam. Pot calling the kettle black.

I wouldnt get rid of Cam, but if people are calling for Rivera's head on a platter after 1.5 seasons, why is it so ridiculous and retarded to suggest Cam is not the answer? He is damn near just as crucial to this team's success as the HC.

Seriously.

Cam having one bad season doesn't mean he's the answer. Rivera's team cannot finish, last yeat it was the defense this year it's the offense. 1-11 in games decided by a touchdown or less. He has been a colossal failure. Cam has actually shown, when given time. He can make plays.

Sure, he can make plays and show flashes of brilliance, but he isnt getting the job done. So.. "franchise QBs" Who were #1 overalls who routinely blow it get loads of time to develop, but a HC doesn't? I'm not saying youre wrong, JT - Id just like you to explain it to me. Being a HC in the NFL is arguably the toughest job in pro sports. Cam gets a pass for blowing it, but RR doesnt?

Rivera is in control of the entire team, Cam does not play defense and Cam does not block for himself. Cam can only control Cam, Sam Bradford, Josh Freeman, Mark Sanchez, were all given 3rd chances. Football is a TEAM sport, the coach will always take the fall.

Beason, MeAngelo, and Gamble are history. They need to rid themselves of Byron Bell, and all the rest of the "make-dos" on the O-line. Medlock and the rookie punter need to go be superstars in the Arena League, they cant hack it in the NFL. Dont be shocked when the new GM sends Smitty, Munnerlyn,Gettis, Hartsock, and all of the former shitass San Diego Charger scrubs packing, either.

It goes without saying Clausen and Edwards will be out of the League by next September.

Oh I agree we're going to have to make some tough decisions, but cutting guys like Beason and DeAngelo (or even restructuring them for that matter) will not free up cap at all....

Cutting Williams would big picture.....cutting him before June first would help a lot in 2014. Gonna eat it in 2013. New GM is gonna have to eat some of it in order to build his team.

I suspect a lot of moves will be made with 2014 in mind more than 2013. Hurney left a mess with "his" guys.
