We will be picking between 9 and 14

Maybe I am a homer but I see us as best of the bad.We could easily win 2 more games and think that would drop us between 9th and 13th.With Star, Luke, and possibly Hankins gone we still have some good options.Possible options are Milliner at cb, Jake Matthews OT,Taylor Leaun OT,Chance Womack OG,.Maybe I am wrong but I do not see Smittys future replacement in the 1st round without making a reach unless Allen shows more speed and flexibility at the combine. We also have a couple of DTs in Richardson and Jessie Williams from Alabama.

the only thing Allen will have to show is how healthy the knee is. he is a top 15 talent, and put up decent numbers with bad QB play. just this past season he was the only threat on that team and still caught over 60 balls and 6 had TDs and missed 3 or 4 games.

My understanding is that his top end speed and flexibility is what stands in the way of him being elite

which was also said about Blackmon who went #7.huge difference there is Allen was in a pro system and still produced from all 3 WR spots. being 6'3 with 4.5 speed is decent enough for a #1 WR. his route running, and moves makes him a home run threat not his deep speed.

He does have good route running ability and quickness that makes people miss.If he could bump his top end speed enough he will be a no brainer.

I think there are always teams wanting to trade up, but the Panthers didn't like their deals in the past. At this point, we should just take the best trade deal that is presented to us.

I agree but it makes it difficult to speculate in this forum to pick someone if we are trading down

Hopefully we dont fall that far. I would like to have a 7 pick then trade back to the 14 spot to grab a LT or DT which this draft is filled with and then get another 2nd rounder to nab a WR and a CB. Just wishful thinking though. We dont have a 3rd if im correct right?

No we do not have a 3rd. I guess someone could trade up for a pass rusher but I see little reason someone would want to trade up this year.

    • From Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/nutshellsportz.bsky.social/post/3mo3rkrcezs2e  A look at Run Threat Rate across the NFL Run Threat Rate is the percentage of plays where a team either runs the ball or uses play action. This compares each team’s rate when leading or tied versus when trailing to show how much they abandon the run when playing from behind.
    • That's the current dilemma on both parties at the moment. If Ickey comes back too soon, he won't be 100% and his play will suffer. Leading to a potential decrease in his contract. If Ickey is unable to play and sits the entire 2026 season, his contract will still take the same hit since it tells all 32 team that he is not fully recovered. On the Panthers side, I'm sure they would want to keep Ickey if he is fully recovered but he is obviously in a contract year. They don't want to re-sign him to a massive deal since it be too risky and they know if Ickey is able to return to form.  Best case scenario, the Panthers wants to offer Ickey a 1-2 year heavily incentive based prove it deal. However, Ickey would most likely decline the offer and test the market as  another team can come in and offer Ickey a better deal if they are desperate enough for O-line help.
    • They have been giving him a lot of snaps at RT to give TMo some relief in camp. I think that will continue for the time being.
