Something worth remembering about Rivera...

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Our players have reacted to the losing and Rivera's potential demise just like 99% of all NFL players on any losing team. What we are seeing is not some special outpouring of support, nor players putting forth special effort to save his job.

Tampa players did not look like they were just going through the motions last year. Many came out in support of Morris. We have seen the same in Philly (with the exception of the one d-lineman who was released). We are just like everyone else.

Oh man. Well if a few players say good things publicly about him by all means let's keep the guy! Mr. Scot you really are on a roll.. So do you think that if we do keep Ron another year and we endure another losing season yet again that those players will be singing the same tune? Especially Steve, who will only be another year older.

I don't know whether Rivera stays or goes, but I do know two things.

Jerry Richardson values Steve Smith and listens to what he says.

Steve Smith wants Rivera to keep his job.

Knowing that, it's no great stretch to suggest Jerry Richardson holds off on a decision about Rivera until the new GM is hired, and allows the GM to make that decision.

But could he fire him 5 seconds after the end of the game? Sure. I just don't think he will.

Pretty sure almost all the players are 100% on board with RR.

DWill is certainly not, but I don't know of anyone else who's unhappy.

You'd think that with the record we have, the expectations we had and the talent on the field (in certain areas) that you'd be hearing a hell of a lot more unrest among the players if they weren't on board.

HOWEVER, the players also all loved Hurney...

    • Outside of cerrato, I do like our draft overall. Hard to get can't miss draft picks when you pick late in the draft
    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
