My latest mock version 3 or so

1. Lane Johnson OT – Once on the radar as a second rounder but the lack of OT and his

performance at the Senior Bowl has brought him into the 1^st. He has been creeping up draft boards. I am picking Carolina to be his landing spot. Still raw and unpolished but will be a starter from day one and hopefully take over the left tackle spot.

2. Tavon Austin WR – I know there will be a lot of comparisons to Mr. Smith as they are similar in stature. We chose him here because we need another playmaker and he falls out of the 1^st round. Also projects well as a returner

4. Akeem Spence DT – A lot of DT are in the draft which means there will be some talented guys that fall to the 4^th. Mobile and physical guy.

5. Duke Williams – S – A strong addition to the secondary. Throws his body around which will make him valuable on special teams. Steal in the 5^th

6. Manase Foketi, OT – O line depth and very good raw talent. Could possible move inside to Guard and be part of the rotation

6 (Comp) Connor Vernon – WR – Hopefully a late round gem. Very good hands.

I dont think you can get everything in the draft but I believe this scenario strengthens the team and fills some holes. I think the O line is shored up and this helps improve the D line but there are still problems in the interior. WR is a question mark but if nothing else we are bringing in some new bodies to replace the mediocrity that exists today and given the special teams coach something to be excited about.

I guess I just don't see what others do in Johnson. I just don't see franchise LT when I watch Oklahoma games. It's not a bad mock, I just would rather get a guy like Patterson or Floyd in the first....

austin is decent ill have to see how many deep balls hes caught...seems like goes over the middle most times.

Your point is quite valid. I didn't go DT because almost all mocks (including all of my previous ones) have a DT in the 1st and I wanted to go another direction. I have mixed feelings on Patterson and just feel he is a project and a reach in the 1st. That said, I reached for an OT that I think can start.

Yes there is. Belichick's philosophy of trading down and adding future picks hasn't gone too well recently. With that, he been getting mediocre players out of it. Check that facts for itself

No worries or complaints from me. Blow it up and poke holes. That is why its there. If everyone agreed it would be super boring and there would be nothing to do for months and months and months. I like the discussion.
