Saw DeAngelo Williams today...

simple.

Williams can't earn his paycheck if our roster is healthy.  Too many runners.  One ball.

Thats a big IF, especially considering Stew, who happens to play the same position. Like i said before, Gettleman knows what hes doing.

That isn't a big if.  Cam has never hand injury issues, Tolbert has never had injury issues, Stewart has only missed legit time one season of his career, we added a scat back with no injury issues.....

Williams and this mess wasn't a Gettlemen thing....but Williams can't earn his paycheck unless we have some massive injuries.  He is paid to be a 1400 + yard rusher with 10+ TDs.

wait, are we talking about a "play maker" who gets 1400 yards per 10 rushes per game?  insanity..  DWill is a beast!

uhh our O-Line had significant injuries, which you may not know this but plays a huge role in the running game, as does our running philosophy. Our offensive philosophy changed to a more traditional style after sorting our O-Line issues out and guess who magically became productive? oh yea, Deangelo Williams.

And by the way, he isn't paid to put up specific numbers, hes paid to be productive and get first downs and help the team march down the field by creating mismatches and freezing the defense. I agree he is being over paid but to say he can't be worth it next year is silly.

OL was fine in 2011....again, too many runners....one ball.   2011 is essentially what he "changed" to from a playcalling perspective.

He is a backup RB that accounts for 8.2 M in cap space.....on a team whose best rusher is the QB.  Unless we recieve a rash of injuries...he simply can't earn what someone in his paygrade is expected to do.

2011 was different because that was the birth of the zone-read in the NFL. Of course Cam is going to rack up a lot of yards, thats the intention [somewhat] of the offense it self. Its one read, and since teams weren't prepared correctly, they were collapsing and going after the RB.

NFL is full of players who ran and defended it....and coaches who did the same.

That is getting away from the point....bottom line is you can't pay someone on a paygrade like Adrian Peterson......and then add him to the mix with Cam, Stewart, Tolbert, scat/read RB.  One ball....no matter the spin you can't argue around the one ball/too many rusher arguement.

I never said he wasn't getting too much, im just saying i think he has the potential to be worth 8 million dollars next year.

Like I've said before Deangelo Williams could be a 1200+ yards running back, if he had 20+ carries a game aka a feature back. But the way that our gameplan is set up we haven't been able to do that. Yes he is getting paid a little to much, but we would definetly be losing a top 10 back. Heck the guy had 734 yards with 6 of those games having less than 7 carries. When he ran the ball 20 or more times he has had 100+ yard games or close to it.

Then he would need the carries...and scheme to produce like a 8 million dollar RB.

If Williams does that....and there are no injuries....then it means several others are then underutilized. All goes back to one ball

I think you're making the logical fallacy that all these things are mutually exclusive
