Top 10 Panthers' Games

Since the NFL Network does re-runs on top 10s and it seems to be a theme here to, how about your top 10 favorite Panthers games of all time. It could be based on the following criterion: competativeness, rivalry, playoff implications or personal experiences at the game (i.e. best tailgate or autographs).

With this amount of varied experiences, I doubt most people's top 10 will be exactly the same.

10) Tampa Bay (11/3/03) First time I started partying with a new tailgating crew that had a mixed tailgate with a couple dozen Buc fans in Charlotte. Monster tailgate!

9) Pittsburgh (12/22/96) Sealed NFCW title and first playoff birth

8) Saints (01/02/01) Rolled up 45 points trying to get last playoff spot (which was a tie break based off points)

7) Green Bay (12/12/99) (Burerlein QB keeper for winning TD)

6) Dallas (Divisional round 1997)

5) Chicago (Divisonal round 2006)

4) Dallas Cowboys (Wild Card round 2004)

3) New England Patriots (Super Bowl 2004)

2) Philadelphia (2004 NFC Championship game)

1) St. Louis Rams (Divisonal round 2004) Double overtime victory

The couple of close games in 2003 (Jax and Tampa--in Tampa) would be 10a and 10b, but I didn't want the 2003 season to wholly encompass the rankings.

How about y'all?

I've been drunk for most, so they all have been pretty good.

But the one that always stands out for me the most is the FG game against TB. In my circle of Panther fans here in Winston, I was they only one who picked the Panthers to win.

I was going to list Philly 11/30/2003. However, since we got beat at home I couldn't list it. I was CANNED that game...on my birthday. One of the two most wasted games I've attented. The other was the Rams a couple of years ago and I got kicked out.

Nice Topic NCBobCat!

Of the regular season Games your number 7 was a favorite. I watched it with my brother either he was in from California or I was in from Colorado. It was my birthday as well . . . anyway the TV announcers were kissing Brett Farve's Jockstrap the whole game. It was sickening, we were bitching about that crap so when Beuerlein runs it in to Win the Game. We loved it!

Thanks Q-Yoda. I think people are not doing this because they are not sure about the dates and scores--details about the games.

I got it off Panthers.com. Under history find team-by-team results and it will give the scores and most importantly the DATES of when the contest happened. Once you start looking at the games and results, it jars one's memory about the events of the games. I know it did for me.

the cowobys playoff game of 96 was when i became a panthers fan, I was in 2nd grade and I remember getting all excited when sam mills intercepted that pass.

and then the cowboys playoff game in 03 was exciting too.

The bills game of 05 and the packers game of 08 were exciting because i was listening to those on the radio coming home from visiting family.

I also had to listen to the rams playoff game on the radio, in a way that was a privielage because it made the game that much more tense.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
