Soccer Summer Transfer Thread...

Fear da Fro! Fellaini would be an excellent pickup for you guys, though my first impulse would have seen him going to ManU to join Moyes again.

Interesting summer window this year.. lots of speculation, lots of rumors, and I believe lots of movement is in the cards for every team. Makes it exciting for sure.

Outside the fact that Rooney is a great player, and that he would strengthen your squad, I have to wonder if this is also a big F.U. to ManUre for stealing RVP away from Arsenal.

There has to be a little of that in the flavor of this pursuit.

Very likely. I think its a lot to do with payback... Arsenal can have Rooney for 20m. Same fee ManUre paid for RVP.

Rooney wants to start but it won't happy with RVP on the team... Its pretty much a guarantee Rooney will leave ManUre. Also, they played him in midfield for the most of last season...

Still don't get what Rooney's problem is.  Guess he is tired of winning a lot of trophies, and would rather spend his time with teams struggling to stay in the Champions League.  I think he will end up at PSG as they will likely offer much more than Arsenal or Chelsea would.  I highly doubt the board at United will sell him to a BPL team.  I have a feeling they would rather have to pay him and have him sit and not do anything, instead of giving him to a rival.

Maybe... doubt it though. Forcing a player who does not want to be there any longer and has soured on the team is a recipe for dressing room disaster. They become a cancer for the rest of the team, and more so, it becomes a talking point for other players thinking of joining said team. Would you want to play for a team that doesn't take your interests in consideration, and try and work the most amicable deals for all sides involved? I certainly wouldn't.

I'm not sure if Rooney wants to go to PSG. Its another sugar daddy club where u either perform or be replaced the following season. Arsenal have Gibbs, Walcott, Oxe and Wilsher... All England national team players and Rooney teammates. Considering that World Cup is next year, it only makes sense.

Rumor going around right now that actually started from FIFA agent Francois Gallardo that Real Madrid has bought Gareth Bale for 90 million Euros!!  If true then WOW on the money but as a Madrid (Ozil) fan I look forward to seeing him playing RW in Spain....

    • That's true. I did actually mean the FO but that's a fair point.
    • A guy like Jones at average pay is going to not work out IMO. The 20 million difference to spend elsewhere is too large of a hurdle when the QB plays good but not carry the team good. They are in the sweet spot currently at cost to value with him. Darnold is pretty much the same. Good in a limited role but lean on him and he will fold. Tua didn't beat good teams when it had to be on his back to be the difference, and that was true when his team was stacked. All of Murray's talent has resulted in 1 winning season for them and 1 wildcard loss. The NFL has an overpaying mediocre QB issue. At the right price it's not an issue but can be a positive. It inevitably leads to a worse roster which becomes a poo show. NY gave up their RB because they paid Jones and proved that. The first is most likely leading to the second. Baker is bucking that trend but he was always the best of any of that group, even if his time here was pretty much the worst setup possible.
    • If you only factor passing, there is a VERY mild argument Dalton is more efficient but it's ignoring the threat Cam was as a big play literally every snap. With his feet OR through the air. Dalton was never that type of player. I would say Dalton over 200 is a very safe bet.
