Soccer Summer Transfer Thread...

Rumor going around right now that actually started from FIFA agent Francois Gallardo that Real Madrid has bought Gareth Bale for 90 million Euros!!  If true then WOW on the money but as a Madrid (Ozil) fan I look forward to seeing him playing RW in Spain....

Rumor started by Francois Guillardo... an agent who released that Drogba was heading to Barca, Terry to Valencia, and other  ridiculous crap just to put his name out there in the news.

On the other hand, we have Bale, who has stated in the London Times that he loves playing at Tottenham, and especially loves playing for Andres Villa-Boas. Even named his kid with the initials AVB. That makes it more likely, to me, that he'll be staying for a little bit longer, as he continues to improve his game. Next year, or the year after? Possible he goes... but that's then, this is now.

I don't think Tottenham is going to turn down an 85 million euro offer for Gareth Bale which is the number that's been mentioned the most.  It's not like Bale hasn't given indications before he would like to go to Spain, and his agent just two weeks ago let it be known it would be an honor for them to receive an offer from Real Madrid.  I honestly don't think it's happening till next year, but with Zidane's obsession it's only a matter of time till Gareth Bale is playing for Real....

Real Madrid are also offering Napoli cash and Higuin for Cavani.  Don't expect it to get done, but if the 20-25 million figure from Arsenal is accurate they could probably just turn around and add that to the cash they're already offering to trigger the release clause.  Cavani is the player Madrid needs most after Falcao is now gone.  They need someone to take some of the scoring load off of Ronaldo.  I would be thrilled with a transfer window of Cavani, some midfield help, and some help at CB/RB.  Then you go after Gareth Bale down the road if di Maria doesn't make incredible strides this year....

I've gotta say I earned a lot of respect for Dortmund today.  Their CEO said Robert Lewandowski absolutely will not be sold to Bayern.  Honestly it probably means he just plays out his contract and goes there for free next year, but I thought it was a big stance, and one that was needed by Dortmund.  Teams that are reportedly looking at him now are Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid.....

Rumor is that Arsenal is also trying to acquire Dortmund's Ilkay Gundogan, and possibly using Lucas Poldolski to do so.  Dortmund is interested in Poldolski to replace Lewandowski who looks to be headed to United, Chelsea or Madrid....

    • That's true. I did actually mean the FO but that's a fair point.
    • A guy like Jones at average pay is going to not work out IMO. The 20 million difference to spend elsewhere is too large of a hurdle when the QB plays good but not carry the team good. They are in the sweet spot currently at cost to value with him. Darnold is pretty much the same. Good in a limited role but lean on him and he will fold. Tua didn't beat good teams when it had to be on his back to be the difference, and that was true when his team was stacked. All of Murray's talent has resulted in 1 winning season for them and 1 wildcard loss. The NFL has an overpaying mediocre QB issue. At the right price it's not an issue but can be a positive. It inevitably leads to a worse roster which becomes a poo show. NY gave up their RB because they paid Jones and proved that. The first is most likely leading to the second. Baker is bucking that trend but he was always the best of any of that group, even if his time here was pretty much the worst setup possible.
    • If you only factor passing, there is a VERY mild argument Dalton is more efficient but it's ignoring the threat Cam was as a big play literally every snap. With his feet OR through the air. Dalton was never that type of player. I would say Dalton over 200 is a very safe bet.
