Possibility of trading back into the 1st Round?

I've been thinking this scenario through for a while now which it's difficult to see happening, but I came along this:

http://www.hoopsrumors.com/charlotte-bobcats/

"The Bucks and Bobcats have engaged in discussions involving Milwaukee's 15th overall pick, says Amico." - Luke Adams

This lead me even more to believing that Cho may try to get back into the 1st round. I dont think this means that we'd be trading all the way back to Milwaukee's 15th pick at all. It looks like if anything does happen, it'd be more of a deal involving our player(s) or future picks (2014). Though, there's been numerous rumors that have said Milwaukee is very interested in Shane Larkin, and adding to the fact that they only have "1" pick in the 1st round. I don't know why they would want to trade that pick away.

Looking at mock drafts, some prospects that could be have at no.15 are: Steven Adams, Shabazz, Kelly Olynyk, Plumlee, Dieng, Tony Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, and Withey.

Assuming that McLemore is off the board: GOING BIGS!!!

Scenario 1
(1) Noel
(2) Olynyk / Plumlee

Scenario 2

(1) Len

(2) Plumlee

Mason Plumlee, 6'10" 235lbs Forward/Center Duke

Kelly Olynyk, 7'0" 234lbs Center Gonzaga

Imagine: 2014-2015 Charlotte Hornets
PG: Kemba
SG: Wiggins / Parker / Smart
SF: Kidd-Gilchrist / Taylor

PF: Noel / Biz
C  : Plumlee

or

PF: Plumlee / Biz
C  : Alex Len

Yeah, the only thing makes sense is a player for pick trade.

Ben Gordon and his expiring contract for the 15th pick sounds interesting.

If it's a scenario where we are trading back, I'll take Larry Sanders and that 15th pick for our 4th pick.

I'd love to see it happen !!!

I dont see the possibility of Cho trading back 11 spots back. How realistic do you to think that an expiring Ben Gordon contract can be force Milwaukee to bite this deal?

No idea, I read that they might not bring Redick back so they could obviously use a shooting guard if that's the case.

Yea. Heard that Ellis is a free agent too?

Also been hearing that the Bucks may rather part way with Jennings instead of Ellis. Maybe, they'd like to clear some cap for a big FA run next year.

There are rumors that the Bucks already have an offer sheet ready for Ellis...

My is guess that the only thing that would keep this deal from coming together is Milwaukee wanting more than just Gordon.

In the end, I could see a deal that sends Ben Gordon (expiring contract) and a future 2nd round pick to Milwaukee for the 15th pick.

It would actually be a pretty good trade for both sides because Milwaukee gets cap room for what looks like a solid free agent class next year and the Hornets get to keep building through the draft. On top of that, the Hornets wouldn't even be losing much cap room when it's all said and done because a 15th overall pick isn't going to make 11 million dollars.

There are also some really good prospects that could be available at 15... Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Michael Carter-Williams, Shane Larkin, Kelly Olynyk, Mason Plumlee, Rudy Gobert, and Gorgui Deng are all intriguing prospects that could be available at the 15th spot.

Why on earth do any of you think the Bucks would give us their 1st round pick and agree to pay Ben Gordon 13 Million to play basketball?.

Wouldn't they just keep their pick and sign another similarly talented SG for far less than $13M

Do you think any team would trade a first rounder and take Ben Gordon's contract when they could just keep their pick and sign Gerald Henderson for less than 10?

I hope you know that Gordon has an upcoming expiring contract.

The same reason we got a 1st rounder for Corey Maggette.... teams love those expiring contracts.

We paid 13 Million dollars for the first rounder we got for Maggette.

The Pistons gave us a first round pick for agreeing to take on the additional 13 Million dollars on Ben Gordon's contract.

My question is why would the Bucks give away a first round pick and acquire Gordon..... They don't currently have Gordon so why would they want to take on his contract?

In order for us to receive Milwaukees first round pick and for us to send them Ben Gordon, the bucks would send us a contract worse than Ben Gordon's or they would have no incentive to make trade.

I guess what I'm trying to say is this:

Currently the Bucks have Cap Space

Cap Space is better than an expiring contract

The Bucks don't need Gordon's expiring contract because they have cap space.

    • I had a huge response typed up for this that I lost entirely so I'm starting from scratch which is annoying but sh*t happens. I think Purdy is a high end game manager. I've made my thoughts known. I think he is talented and is at his best in the areas of timing rhythm and accuracy. When playing within the structure and scheme of that Shanahan offense and the talent around him he can be really good. Where his limitations become pronounced and more evident is when he has to go toe to toe with dynamic elite QB's. Which obviously isn't a problem just limited to him. But he's been given almost 200 million dollars guaranteed so that's an issue. I think the 49ers will struggle to get back to the mountain top with his new contract looming large and certainly they will face a very steep climb to somehow winning another championship. As far as Bryce within the pocket there have been numerous discussions here and even video circulated of him bouncing around the pocket like a pogo surveying the field or having both feet off the ground to deliver a pass. It exists even if you or someone else doesn't want it to. And I get why. But it's up to Bryce and Canales to figure out how to not only get his footwork where it needs to be and keep it there but to build a scheme around Bryce and what he does best and fit his limitations into a formidable offense. Look brother we can get into the weeds about this but I will respectfully say I do not believe you are being consistent here. You have gone out of your way as one of the key voices complaining about how striking the lack of quality talent and coaching was around Bryce Young in 2023. You've also been a key voice who has gone out of your way to sprinkle sunshine and rainbows on just about any discussion around every Panthers player and anything Panthers in general. Which is fine and can be a good thing. It's not for everyone but still more power to you. But it's jarring to see that and then you here now in what I can only describe as downplaying the talent around Bryce when it comes time to shield him from what you perceive to be unfair criticism which others such as myself would argue is not only fair for a first round pick but wholly realistic given the resources we surrendered to be able to draft him. The current FO have made an undisputed effort to build around Bryce given the aforementioned limitations created by the trade. There is never going to be a time where Bryce or any other Panthers QB is going to have elite or all pro level talent across the entire offense. But the FO has put talent around him. If you want to say that this is young and undeveloped talent in some areas that's fine but they are building around him. I'm going to be honest with you I cannot recall ever hearing this "big time throw" metric being mentioned in past conversations about Panthers QB's. I mean if Bryce or any other QB is making franchise QB or fringe elite QB  level throws we can recognize that with our own eyes. We have seen this from Bryce  which was a relief and very welcomed sight but now it's up to him to prove he can sustain that because in fairness we've seen some pretty impressive passes from past QB's who ultimately didn't pan out who were arguably more phsyically talented than Bryce. 3rd down conversion and turnover worthy plays are certainly something to hone in on. Bryce did improve in the redzone in that final stretch of games. However one key area to keep an eye on will be passing plays to the middle of the field. That's been an issue for us and Bryce both with turnovers and with bad moments from our receivers with bad drops.  We'll have to see what Dave Canales has planned for all of this within his scheme. I don't expect miracles but I do expect a competent formidable offense that is enjoyable to watch in 2025. That's the minimum expectation and I do not believe it is at all unreasonable.
    • You gotta have that attitude. Feels like a major turnaround to me!
