(Michael David Smith - PFT)

"Former NFL player Hugh Douglas has lost his job as an ESPN analyst after a confrontation with one of his co-workers.

“He no longer works for us effective today,” an ESPN spokesperson told Richard Deitsch of SI.com.

According to The Big Lead, Douglas threatened to beat up Michael Smith, who appeared with Douglas on Numbers Never Lie. The report also said Douglas used racial slurs toward Smith.

Douglas put a short statement on Twitter, saying he is disappointed to be leaving ESPN and will have more to say about the incident in the future. He did not apologize to Smith, ESPN or anyone else.

I am very disappointed to be leaving ESPN and will have more to say about this situation and my future at the appropriate time

A first-round draft pick of the Jets, Douglas was the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1995 and later was traded to Philadelphia and became a three-time Pro Bowler with the Eagles."

God, thank you! Can't stand Douglas, Smith, and co. Wished Douglas would've threw a couple punches at Michael Smith before he had left. Michael Smith is almost as bad as Sapp when it comes to talking. Can't understand what the fu(k he is saying. "Numbers Never Lie" is a worthless piece of crap.

    • I think the qualification has changed over time though. A deep ball play used to take 4 to 6 seconds for the receiver to get to that spot on the field. Now a receiver can be there in 2.5. That's less time than most QBs have to set and throw. In my mind a deep route takes time to develop. A crossing route and a deep route can't take the same amount of time at full speed. You can have 4 deep balls on the same drive,  almost 5 if you do 5 20 yard throws goal line to goal line. That doesn't even make sense when you say it out loud.
    • The sad part is it looks manicured enough that he's aware it's running away from him.  Also, I just wanted to give you some fun loving grief on King Haynes today having a chance to throw a game winning TD, and was wildly errant, and ultimately picked off to end the game.  So happy I won't have to hear anything else about The Golden Calf of Bristol lite ever again watching college football.
    • I just think Panthers believe in Bryce far more than the fans do and he is most likely going to be the QB at least the next two seasons. the real shot of us moving from Bryce is not getting an extension, till then they are going to give him every chance to succeed and I just want to win.
