Humoring this insanity....why do we need Clowney? You want to tank a season to get a player we have no need for? If there was an OL or receiver of his caliber I would at least see the logic behind it a tiny little bit.

I would take Clowney over anyone in the draft next year and probably every current Panthers' DL.

Yeah, but but but Barner has three runs for a better YPC average last night! Weren't you watching? This thread is ludicrous. The dude cannot pass block and now all of sudden it doesn't matter that he has fumbled twice in the games where apparently he has showed he is better than Deangelo. I am now starting to understand Huddle Logic and it starts at the top!

I'm not trying to take sides because you both have valid points. But deangelo is crucial to our passing game with his blocking ability. Barner not quite there yet with blocking. I think for right not it would be good to use them for different situations

Honestly I am kind of encouraged by how many Huddlers get what I am saying. I knew it would go over the heads of some, but not very many. Things are looking up :)

 

You knew that not very many posters would not openly disagree.  No matter what you post, there are going to be a few that are like "Yeah Zod", we are currently bowing.  Post D-LO's long hair a showing of his ties to terrorists.  Some won't even ask for a source.

I also don't think people realize that Barner was out there for a reason. It's preseason.

The O-line had a lot of subs and guys moving positions. It's preseason.

I don't know if guys got nicked up or what but half the time I was like, "Who is that playing guard?" Our O-line does need a lot of help but I also think that it was as bad as it was because we were looking at different guys to see if they had anything.

Now, Gettleman knows they don't and he can go get some new beef.

I don't think they were seeing what we had at OL....Amini went down and that was simply all we got.

Gettlemen could of just watched last years OL and rush attack and realized that

Some people on here are either sucking up to Zod/Mods for reputation or are just too afraid to give a common sense opinion bc they're too scare of being banned.

just saw this nugget on ESPN insider, dated yesterday just before gametime, had not seen it elsewhere (doesn't mean it hasn't been posted) 

 

 

Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart is scheduled to meet with noted foot doctor Dr. Robert Anderson next week to determine when he might be able to next play after undergoing offseason surgery on both his ankles, a team source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Panthers have not given up hope that Stewart could be ready for the opening game, even though he has not practiced with the team this year. But they also do not want to rush him back on the field and set him back any further, which means Stewart easily could wind up missing the first couple of games of the season. 

Still, as one source told Schefter on Thursday in regards to the chances that Stewart plays in the Panthers' regular-season opener: "The first week is going to be close." 

Since he clearly isn't 100 percent, it seems likely that even if he does return to action during the first couple of weeks, it would be in a limited role. That means that DeAngelo Williamsshould be in position to have a big statistical start to the 2013 season. Fantasy owners will want to keep in mind that Williams averaged at least 5.0 yards per carry in four of the past six seasons, and when given the chance to carry a heavy workload back in 2008, he rushed for 1,515 yards and 18 touchdowns on 273 carries. 

There is tremendous upside for Williams in new offensive coordinator Mike Shula's system, which will lean heavily on their rushing attack. His ADP has jumped from the mid-90s to 79 in the past week, and surely will continue to rise until or unless Stewart gets back in the mix. He arguably has a clearer path to success than the likes of Giovani Bernard, Lamar Miller, Chris Ivory and Montee Ball, all of whom are going earlier in drafts than Williams

You should not have involved the names if you wanted a better football discussion. Should we tell are rbs to:

 

1. Run hard as soon as possible to at least pick up a little

2. Wait for the blocks to develop and hope for larger gains

 

You argue for 1 behind the garbage we have up front. Sure, I see you point.

 

What I do not agree with is this means Barner. It does not mean Williams either. Neither are good "yards after contact in a pile"-backs. Stu is awesome at this (probably the reason he actually made something happen last year) and Tolbert make sense as well.

 

It is kind of like asking "Should we start Manning or Flacco in a read option offense".

      100%. Nick Scott was awful last year. Like, even for a franchise that hasn't historically invested in that position, it stood out for how awful it was. If he sees meaningful snaps at S again we're cooked.  Maybe he has value for ST, but I certainly hope we can upgrade. Jordan Fuller, who was by all accounts an Evero guy, was almost as bad. Xavier Woods was bad, but not complete garbage. Still did not want him back. Those 3 guys seriously may have been the worst S group in the NFL. And they all were brought in, especially Fuller, as good fits for this system. Everyone knocks the defensive line, and they deserve a lot of blame, too, but so, so many times our safeties inability to tackle let 4-5 yard runs turn into 10+. And it happened over and over and over again if you watch the film. Honestly, Demani Richardson was the only S by the end of the year I remember making positive plays. I have no issue with Richardson being in the mix and/or competing to be a starter, but we still need another S desperately IMHO who has actually played meaningful snaps in the NFL. The only caveat/excuse for our secondary was the fact our pass rush was nonexistent for large stretches last year. Maybe that helps with coverage, but I dont see how that makes any of these guys better at tackling.  I know it somewhat feels like piling on at this point, but I feel 100% confident in saying this was the worst tackling team in franchise history. The 70ish yard pass play we gave up to Jamarr Chase where he ran through and past everyone in the secondary has to be up there in terms of most embarrassing plays I've ever seen. I can't imagine how embarrassed Kuechly must have been watching from the booth... I think bringing back Evero was a mistake, but for a team that has had nothing but change over the past 5 years, I'm willing to see this through. I definitely think we added significantly to the floor of this defense with the additions we made. I dont think Evero has any further excuses if he cant field a unit that can at least somewhat hold their own. Fixing the safety play is going to be a big part of that.
