Survey to help with my new education startup

Hey Kids!

I have a new startup out here in silicone valley, based around education and career development that is focused on the needs and wants of the student.

tl;dr version, please take this survey, it's all about the kids:

Note that the first few questions of the survey are required.  This is because the survey will change what questions it asks you later, based on who you are.  All others are open.  The survey is completely anonymous.  We give you the option to give us your contact info if you want to get involved further.  If not, we have no idea who you are.

More details about what we're doing:

Why are we doing this?

First, the education system in this country, and most other countries for that matter, is based on old, out-dated curricula and paradigms.  It was developed during the industrial revolution, and is modeled after a factory assembly line.  What you learn is based on when you were born, not on your skills, interests or goals.  On top of that, the system doesn't put any context around your education.  How many times have you heard 'Why do I need to learn this?'

Second, job satisfaction is terrible, like below 20% terrible.  In addition, all job satisfaction surveys that you see ask about are you getting paid enough, is your boss nice to you, do you get good benefits.  No one is asking what do YOU want?  Why are you where you are now?  The system cares about the number of people in jobs, it doesn't care about if someone is happy in their job, or if they have any goals or ambitions for this job.

Our goal is to put education and career development back into the hands of the individual, to help them find a path that fits their current situation, and life interests.

How are we doing this?

We have a three step approach, here is an extremely lite version of that:

The first part is awareness and enlightenment.  This step is basically R&D, helping people learn what options they have, and what these options really mean.  Going beyond just answering, 'What do I want to be when I grow up?' but to show you what you will be when you grow up.  In addition to that, helping to separate fantasy from reality.  Every kid wants to be a game designer, but they don't know what that really means.  Finding a career where you love the process, not just the end results.

The second part is to build a personalized path to get you from where you are now to where you want to be.  This includes reverse engineering the paths that current, successful professionals took, modifying it based on the individual and filling in the gaps with various resources to get that person to their goal.

The third part is helping with resources for those who can't do it themselves, eg, helping to provide tuition to a summer camp at Sea World for someone who wants to be a marine biologist.

We are very early on in our development, and this survey is purely for data gathering.  We need to make sure that we are asking the right questions and that we are taking the right approach.  The data that we gather from surveys like this, and personal interviews, will help make sure that we come at this in the right way.  Again, the data is completely anonymous.

Many thanks to all of those who help. I'm afraid that all I have to give you in return right now is some pie, and I am happy to spread that around.  Thanks!!!
