Canes With Possible Interest In Yakupov

The issues with Nail Yakupov appear to be worsening and one Russian source I spoke to said the Hurricanes are a team to look to here... It is hard to imagine, beyond Justin Faulk, a player who could make this deal attractive...

Keep in mind this is Eklund talking, so take it for what it's worth.

It would be interesting to see who the Canes could offer to get a deal done for Yakupov. Nail is an interesting player, so I'd be wary of offering anything big.

I'd offer something around Ruutu, Dwyer, and a 2nd and Edmonton would probably ball.

A lineup of the following would be kind of interesting...

Tlusty - E. Staal - Semin

Gerbe - J. Staal - Yakupov

Skinner - Lindholm - Dvorak

Bowman - Nash - Sutter

Westgarth

Faulk - Sekera

Hainsey - Gleason

Harrison - Murphy

Bellemore

Komisarek

Ward

Khudobin (Peters)

I don't think just Dwyer and a 2nd would do, but I would do... Dwyer, Rask/Bellemore, and a 3rd for Yakupov.

Then go with...

Jiri Tlusty - Eric Staal - Alexander Semin

Nathan Gerbe - Jordan Staal - Nail Yakupov

Jeff Skinner - Elias Lindholm - Tuomo Ruutu

Drayson Bowman - Riley Nash - Radek Dvorak

Kevin Westgarth

Brett Sutter

Anrej Sekera - Justin Faulk

Tim Gleason - Ron Hainsey

Jay Harrison - Ryan Murphy

Mike Komisarek

Cam Ward

Anton Khudobin (Justin Peters)

The thing is, they have been calling teams to trade him. So if they want to move on they will have to settle.

Also, as of now... Yakupov is not even playing for Edmonton (he has been scratched these last few games).

I'm hesitant to give up a first, but Yakupov could possibly put us over the top as a contender... I'd have to think long and hard about it.

Maybe Dwyer (3rd line winger), Bellemore (capability of being a 2nd pairing defensemen), and our 1st and 3rd round picks.

Just my opening, but Nail is not nearly consistent enough to command the the value that Edmonton places on him.

To be honest I haven't kept up with this kid since he got drafted. What's the beef in Edmonton? Is he injury prone? Why are they shopping him?

No one really knows why...

He has been scratched the last few games but will have to be back in the lineup because of injuries.

I think they are upset with his performance. I believe he only has one goal and no assists in seven games played this season.
