So, according to PFF Kuechly is struggling

Well, if it's zone, his only assignment IS HIS ZONE. So there's your answer to that. It's really a simple concept. You don't drop out of your zone and try to be a hero. Have you played football before?

But, I'd have to watch the play.

What you do in zone, Mr "I play football but no one else does". . . is assess threats. A TG heading towards the endzone through your zone outweighs a Harry Douglass coming under. No ones trying to "be a hero". What you should be trying to do is cheating towards whichever is the bigger threat. Whether youre cheating mentally or physically towards that side doesnt depends on what you can get away with. You have to be ready for the bigger threat even if you have a safety thats supposed to also make that read. Another step or two and he makes that play right? What gives you a another step or two? A split second decision to pull off a decoy for their OBVIOUS #1 target. No D-cordinator is saying "well only the safety can make that play". Is the LB "supposed" to make that play? No, but it would be nice if a pro bowl caliber LB does make that play. . . its within his abilities.

You have heard of the concept of cheating to one side when playing zone or assessing one threat and giving it greater value than the other threat? Do you play sports?

Its a simple concept. . as you said.

Well don't put words in my mouth and get all pissy, I simply asked a question. Some people really haven't played football or played defense before. And I never claimed to be an all knowing football god, you just want to be a dick. Your original point was that he was manned up on TG, which he was not, and then you continued to try to make a point about how regardless of the play call, he was matched up on Gonzalez, which is not always the case. It just isn't.

But it's just entirely dependent upon the scheme called. If it was Cover 2, then Kuechly is responsible for deep middle (which would be Gonzalez's area), but at the same time, once again, based upon my memory, it didn't appear to be a cover 2 specifically because in a Cover 2 those safeties will always drop back and cover deep (the deep flats) and Kuechly would have left the tackle box to the weakside linebacker and gotten deep middle. He wasn't deep middle, he was in the tackle box.

There wasn't a one or two step margin between he and TG when the ball left Ryan's hand. It was more like a 4 or 5 yard cushion. This leads me to believe that it was a cover 3 and that Ryan looked off Mitchell or Lester (whoever was in) that was responsible for the deep middle. In a cover 3 Kuechly is responsible for the tackle box (which was where he was), and would let someone going deep middle pass him into the FS's zone to protect the underneath route (which apparently you said was unimportant, but just as easily could've resulted in a TD).

This whole cheating to a side thing, whatever you want to call it, that's purely a situational thing. You're talking in hindsight and theory, I'm purely stating the facts of what was seen. Of course it happens, especially when you see things on film or have an understanding of their tendencies, but I think they know that stuff better than we do. It's a call that the coach is going to make, or a check that's going to come from the sideline that Kuechly will call based on the scheme. You act like he allowed his assignment to run right past him, but his past history even in that specific game give the justification that wasn't the case.

He had a zone on that play, but he just happened to try to make the effort to get there while the ball was in the air and it made it appear as though he got embarrassed, when he really was just trying to save a screw up by his safety. Don't be an asshole man, just consider that your opinion on this one may be flawed.

LoL, hey Asshole, I havnt rewatched the play yet either. I literally came in here after the game and casually said Luke got burnt on that play. Immediately I had a Luke Nazi fan calling me a fair weather fan and all kinds of other nonsense.

If you had read the whole thread instead of being over anxious and just posting you wouldve understood the tone, but you didnt and so there are misunderstandings.

DiMarco vs Kuechly

Luke Kuechly makes quite a few ‘splash’ plays, including his interception on Atlanta’s second drive (1Q, 10:18), when Kuechly did a tremendous job staying underneath Tony Gonzalez and turning to play the ball. For as many good plays as he makes though, he also struggles, such as at 2:00 of the second quarter, when he let Gonzalez get behind him in the endzone on a post for a 17-yard touchdown. He really struggled in the run game, however, especially against fullback Patrick DiMarco, who played just 11 snaps, but compiled his entire +2.0 grade in this matchup. DiMarco got the better of the LB multiple times, with Kuechly getting the worst of it on consecutive plays late in the game (3Q, 0:18 and 4Q, 15:00). The second of those plays went particularly poorly for the Panther with DiMarco taking him to the ground. Add a missed tackle to his struggles against Atlanta’s fullback, and it was a forgettable day for Kuechly.

I responded to the third post in the thread, which was yours. All I talked about was your comment in that post. The context of the thread didn't even matter. And you're still whining

Im whining about what? Can you point it out? YOU came in without reading the thread and started questing this and that without reading a word I said. . I responded. You post a pic of baby why? Is that youre thing? Posting random images to people's comments when youre embarassed so you think youre "winning" Charlie Sheen style. HAHAHA it was pitifully out of place and made zero sense.

LoL go away kid, next time read the thread before posting and you wont look like an idiot. Youve embarrassed yourself enough already. Who's the child here Pirate Panther? A guy casually responding to people quoting him and having some laughs at their expense. . or some moron who click to the last page and starts posting without reading any other page than the last?

This forum is hitting the bottom of the barrel this week with many of the threads, but this thread takes the cake.  Seldom have I subjected myself to reading such lunacy.

4 pages of jawing from idiots for a simple casual comment, man. Cant be helped. . . Sorry but sometimes I have to verbally put foot to ass and entertain myself. They keep talking to me so Im gonna keep responding until they "get it".

Lost cause huh? o well, I had fun.

Wow...you are...just an idiot. You're absolutely right. I feel like a dumbass for even engaging in conversation with you bud. And for the record, Kuechly didn't get beat. That's why everyone jumped on you. You were wrong. You made yourself look like an idiot, and then you started getting all defensive about it. You're a dumbass. I didn't have to read the whole thread to respond to a single post of yours. I didn't click randomly all around the thread. I responded to a post of yours that was the third one in the thread. Everything you said afterward is completely irrelevant because we got into a seperate conversation.

I'm done doing whatever it is we're doing. You aren't funny, and I'm not a "kid" as you claim I am, I have a kid. Which makes me feel even more ridiculous for continuing to talk to someone as fuging retarded as you.

Next time read the thread, meathead, and you wont embarrass yourself. If you had done that you wouldve seen that I acknowledged that. You dont wanna do that do you? You want to posture and call people idiots. Treat people with respect and you will have it returned to you otherwise. . "go away kid you bothering me"

lol he's a fuggin Dad. . this is whats wrong with our country. . too many idiots thinking they know more than everyone else. Couldnt be bothered to read two sentences that wouldve told him everything.
