NCfan's 2014 Mock

FA: Ginn, Hardy, Gross, Nicks (yes i'm on the hope he comes aboard train)

1st:  Mike Evans- Have gone Defense the last 2 years and it shows (#2 D in the league currently), now try to shore up the O around Cam.  Sets up one of the best WR cores the Panthers have had in a while Nicks and Evans outside can finally move Smith inside for the last few years of his career.  Evans should slide to us even if we go on a playoff push (just don't see him lighting up the 40), Watkins and Lee will jump him after the combine putting him into our lap.  Smart Big sure handed WR who helps bail Johnny Football out on some of the Crazy Plays, hopefully he can do the same with Cam.

2nd: Kyle Fuller- Very Deep CB class, another very good DB from one of the big DB football factories.  Our D is elite (mainly due to the Front 7).  Fuller opposite of an emerging White behind the Front 7 will make NFC south O coordinators and QB coaches sweat.

3rd:  Seantrel Henderson-  loads of potential but has never lived up to the hype as the next big LT.  Don't see him jumping into the 2nd.  Playing with Gross will see how good he can be.  Worst case scenario he becomes a SOLID RT, then we can go look for that LT the following year.

4th:  Wish Lemarcus Joyner would fall here due to his size but doubt he will.  So I will go with Ed Reynolds, Athletic ability is a ? which will make him drop.  But he is a Very smart DB similar to Luke at the MLB.  Perfect fit to QB the back 4.

5th:  Gotta go with OL Depth:  Brandon Thomas or Morgan Moses

6th: James Franklin

7th: DT

2014 Lineup

QB: Cam Newton

RB: Stewart

FB: Tolbert

WR: Steve Smith

WR: Winner of Evans/Nicks battle

TE: Olson

LT: Gross

LG: Amini

C: Kalil

RG: Kug

RT: Henderson

DE: Hardy

DT: Star

DT: Short

DE: Johnson

OLB: Davis

MLB: Luke

OLB: Blackburn (would love to for Gettle to work some magic and get Briggs here but dont see it happening with Nicks signing)

CB: White

FS: Reynolds

SS: Mitchell

CB: Fuller

2015 blow up the back field use that cash to lock up Luke and Cam then use leftovers and draft on LT and RB.

True but tons of guys every year have potential and fall.  Most have mocks have him falling to the 3rd and I believe he will as well.  Worse case we may would have to trade our comp pick for beacon (7th) to move up a couple spots in the 3rd if were going on a playoff run.

2015 Will still have Question at LT moving forward If Henderson doesn't look like he could go at LT and just stick at RT.  2015 part ways with that chunk of $$$ at RB that could help lineup Cam and Luke's contracts and still get a solid LT.  Your not going to be able to have all pros across the board but a solid LT And RT is better than a Pro-Bowl LT and a weak RT when you have a Mobile QB and pounding O scheme like shula.  With Stewie D-will duo gone, wouldn't be to hurt if we traded up in the 1st to get a Stud RB/local product Todd Gurley.

Love it! Let's see if it happens. Im not sure if Henderson will be available in the 3rd. He has 1st round talents.

But thats the problem. He's not a guy projected high as of right now. The only thing for him now is "up", not down. His stock "2nd-3rd round" right now will only rise if he goes on and have a good combine, pro day, etc. He has a lot of talents and is considered "raw". Thats what teams like. Those are the guys that somehow every single year gets taken in the 1st round.

I think its pretty likely.  Coming into this season Prior to the knee injury Marquise Lee was the next big top 5 WR prospect.  He had a Big week last week and expect him to put up solid #'s at the combine.  Watkins is going to blow up the combine and go up there.  Evan's, I think the combine hurts him because very unlikely he runs below a 4.55ish 40.  He will be the 3-4th WR on the board and just don't see 3-4 WR's going by the time we pick.

If we land Mike Evans it'll be two miracle slides by top-10 talents to us in back to back years. Possible? Yes. Likely? Unfortunately no.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
