Civil Lawsuit Filed Against Ben Roethlisberger

While you bring up a good point about the "I'm not on birth control" comment, many women who have been raped feel ashamed, helpless, embarrassed, and ostracized and feel if they mention to anyone they were raped, they will be ridiculed and demoralized if they mention it.

This is the reason this violent crime goes unreported very often. And rape is not sex, it's a violent crime.

Now I'm not saying Ben is guilty or not. Like said before, it's going to come down to consensual sex or not. He didn't deny knowing the girl or actually having sex with the girl.

Though I wouldn't doubt it, but I'm just saying it's a little too early to claim she was gold digging.

A violent Crime should demand JUSTICE then not a Paycheck.

I'm suppose believe Ninjas from Harrahs casino broke into her house and stole document's, C'mon

I don't buy the Intimidation issue either of her glorified waitress job.

There are just so many lawyer angles in that story that try to cover up the #1 thing against her, which is the lack of a criminal investigation, so all these angles of she was affraid for her job, stolen documents or i could of proved it is about as believable as a dog ate my home work,

Nah I don't buy it, She claims she said during the "Rape" " No Don't I'm not on Birth control" WTF is that.

Shouldn't the first thing out of your mouth if your being raped be NO or help or screaming or something. But she says wait I'm not on birth control  C'mon girls in a bar you bring home don't even go there I'm suppose to believe this chick who is experiencing this traumatic event that’s the first thing she thinks of.

& then she sits around for a year pondering what happen then decides instead of going to the cops I'll ask for 400k. C'mon :icon_bs:

There is so much Lawyer in this story is laughable

At the very least OK, he F*cked her then wanted nothing more to do with her she feels burned and conjures this BS story.

In all fairness, PC, neither you nor I are female and we haven't been in this situation. Some women fight off attackers as hard as they can. Others don't resist for fear of being hurt or killed. Who's to say what's best?

I don't know that I'd be prepared to tell any woman that there's a "right way" and a "wrong way" to deal with being sexually assaulted (or with the aftermath).

It happened to someone that I knew and cared about, and she never reported it at all. She didn't want the "victim on trial" treatment that so many women get. And honestly, the last thing I'd have wanted anyone doing was telling her how she "should have" handled it.

Again, I'm not saying he's guilty or she's a nutcase. Just trying to explain how a crime like this can go both ways. And how a victim may not report it immediately.

See Mr. Scott's post.

Ok even IF she handled the assault in her "Own" way.

Waiting a year then going to straight into a "Civil Case" she could of still went to the cops.

A Civil Case out of the blue if this really happened is the wrong way to

bring justice to Roethlisberger, It screams "Personal" and "Pay Me"

Criminal cases require "beyond the shadow of a doubt", which is not an easy thing when there are no witnesses. Civil cases only require being more believable than your opponent.

Yes, it's possible that this is false, but if it's just about the money then why not sue Harrahs instead of just suing their employees? Harrahs would have a boatload more than these guys do, and would likely be willing to pay something just to make it go away. Lots of companies take that route rather than deal with protracted legal fees and headaches.

Add in that neither she nor her lawyer is going the "try the case in the media" route, which is the usual MO for someone seeking a big payday (i.e. drag them through the mud so they'll pay you to go away).

And from what I've seen, Roethlisberger's press conference, meant to make him look like an upstanding citizen who's being wronged, instead made him look like a moron trying to cover his tracks.

I'm still keeping an open mind, so I'm not prepared to say he's guilty. But the more I see of this the more I think not exactly "innocent".

Another thing that hits me is the fact that she's asking for less than 1/2 $ million.

A case like this, if you're just the three defendants that worked for Harrah's or the Harrah's Company itself, defending a case like this is going to cost a minium of $4 to $10 million.

Less than a half million? Really? Roethlisberger makes that much warming up.

Wonder if they'll make an offer that involves his admitting guilt.

.

It is being tried in the media everything is these days,

Civil Case...Its my word vs your word either he pays her and it goes away or it goes to trial and is name gets drug through the mud some more.

Her not going after Harrahs is what makes it seem "Personal" to me and the fact that she IS only asking for 400k IMO makes it easier to just cut and check and make it go away, she comes out asking for some ridiculous sum it Will go to trial and she better have the facts/proof.

I liked the fact that he came out to deny it, guys that always remain silent & don't issue statements IMO have something to hide.

In a way she has nothing to lose, apparently she isn't working at Harrah's anymore, shes either going to get paid or not, it not like filing bogus criminal charges.

Well, I just scanned the 30 page complaint, but it is less than a million. Depending on each claim (@ $10,000 each towards each defendant) it looks like around half a million. So, somewhere between a million and 1/2 a million.

Not like the normal gold digger going for a full life-time settlement.

The official complaint:

Seriously, taking one side or the other, at this point, is useless.

But think what you want.

Sources connected with the case tell us a former co-worker of McNulty’s at Harrah’s came forward with this incredible story — that around the time McNulty hooked up with Roethlisberger, she was allegedly involved with a married man. The man’s wife, we’re told, created an email account, posing as a U.S. soldier in Iraq. The wife began corresponding with McNulty to gain information. We’re told the former co-worker has said McNulty fell in love with the fictitious soldier and began telling people she was engaged to him. When the wife stopped the correspondence, McNulty then began telling people the soldier was killed in action.
