Shula Play-off Solution

Cpt slay a ho

Recommended Posts

I think we all realize everyone takes some blame, and everyone gets some praise, but the difference is in how much you think the current struggling on offense could be helped by different play calls versus personnel versus Cam just not being at a level yet where he can run an offense like Shula wants given what we have (how some people seem to be approaching this)

I think he is running the offense and doing a decent job.  We lead the league in long drives, in TOP and are top 5 in 3rd down conversions.  We are 26th in total yards but that is really a poor stat given that the rankings don't really differentiate between good and bad teams.  The difference between us at 26th and the 10th ranked team is 50 yards a game which is one extra drive.

Points wise we are averaging 23 points a game which is good for 18th.  Once again the difference between the 2nd rated team in points scored and the 25th ranked team is 7 points. So the differences between a top offense and a 20th ranked offense is not that big.

Cam's last incompletion of the day yesterday infuriated me. Pissed me off to no end.

And it wasn't because of Cam... it was because of Lafell.

Yes, the announcers took yet another opportunity to lament Cam's "inaccuracy" after the play where the ball was thrown ahead of Lafell and grazed off his fingertips. But was Cam "inaccurate" on that particular play?

No, he was not.

The PROBLEM was that Lafell as dogging his route after he made his cut (a deep in-route). And Cam put the ball right where Lafell SHOULD HAVE BEEN.

But Lafell wasn't there because he was merely trotting after he made his cut rather than RUNNING his route.

If Lafell doesn't loaf on that route (*and* assuming he caught the pass when he got there), the Panthers would have had 1st and 10 across midfield on their next to last possession, knocking on the door to at least a FG.

But, no, Cam made an "innaccurate" throw... because he was assuming his WR intended to run the route like a damn professional.

There were two routes that piss me the off, lafell's out and his skinny post(or dig), on the out route he look lost and confused as if he didn't know the ball was comming, Then on the skinny post when they showed the replay it look as if he could easily cross the cb face but instead he telegraphs his route and then doesn't accelerate after he breaks.........it's like he just half-ass it.

anyone defending lafell please shed some light on me cause at this moment it's hard convincing me his snaps shouldn't be given to guys like hixon or mcnutt. Lafell and bell are the weak links in the offense, Hixon came in the last two games and made big plays Lafell nowhere to be found in the two biggest games of the season

    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
