FIRST MOVE: Greg Hardy to Jacksonville for 2014 2nd rounder (no39) + 2015 2nd rounder

GREGHARDY_zpsa96e7144.jpg

Yesterday was the last time we all saw Greg Hardy in Charlotte. As great as he is, Gettleman isn't going invest that much money (100mil) in two DEs.

I am looking forward to seeing Gettleman "tag and trade" Hardy to either the Oakland Raiders ($63.5mil) or Jacksonville Jaguars ($54.3mil); the two teams with the most cap in 2014.

The Raiders and Jags could sit exactly where they are in the draft and potentially take Jadeveon Clowney if they needed a pass rusher that bad. But, the problem is both teams are in need of a QB.

Greg Hardy's value is likely a 1st rounder+. The last time a player of Hardy caliber was on the market, the Chiefs netted a 1st + two 3rds for him. I dont see the Raiders or Jags giving that much, but two 2nd rounders (2014/2015) is realistic. And, Gettleman will take that and run with it. The likely trade partner would be Jacksonville. Greg Hardy is a strange man and now can be paid to live in the sunny weather of Florida.

FREE AGENCY:

(1) Hakeem Nicks, WR
HakeemNicks_zps68c5b5b1.jpg

Trading away Greg Hardy will again initiate the Hakeem Nicks to Carolina rumors. The relationship is there with Gettleman (NYG), Nicks being from Charlotte, and especially due to the need at WR. Nicks is still a very good receiver in the league, but will be had for cheap due to his two previous mediocre (statistically) seasons.

(2) Charles Tillman, CB
CharlesTillman1_zpsf6a16b09.jpg

Tillman played under Rivera in Chicago, and he likely will not be back in Chicago due to his age. Tillman should be able to rebound back from his triceps injury.

Acquired picks:
2nd Round: no.39 (via Jax), no.56 (via SF), and no.61(via SF/TBD?)

2014 MOCK DRAFT

(2.39) Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt
JordanMatthews1_zps8390f38a.jpg

Jordan Matthews will be a great pick up in the 2nd round. He’s an already polished receiver that can come in right away and contribute opposite Hakeem Nicks. Steve Smith is aging too fast and now is the time to find his replacement. With good route running skills and great hands, Matthews will consistently find separation and catches the ball unlike someone. The day of LaFail is finally over.

(2.56) Morgan Moses, OT, Virgina

Yes! It’s a huge reach for some, but Moses possesses size and power. A huge upgrade and long term answer for Bell. He should definitely help open more holes for our backs as well.

(2.60) Jackson Jeffcoat, DE, Texas

This is the pick that will help cure some fans of losing Greg Hardy. Jeffcoat comes from a football pedigree and can really get after the QB: 13 sacks.

(2.61) Aaron Colvin, CB, Oklahoma

Another questionable pick similar to the Morgan Moses one. But, Colvin possess good size and is a very physical corner that will come on run support.

(3) Andre Williams, RB, Boston College

Carolina is in need of finding a new RB. Andre Williams will have some fresh legs to help carry the load. He’s built like a TANK very stocky and short to the ground like Alfred Morris. A great pickup!

(6) Jeremy Gallon, WR, Michigan
JEREMYGALLON3_zps2ae31f3d.jpg

Gallon doesn’t have the ideal size for a receiver, but all he does is make plays. Gallon has received some comparisons to our very own Steve Smith.

(7) Cornelius Lucas, OT, Kansas State

Lucas stands at 6’9’’ and 328 pounds. He got his first starting job this season and helped pave the way for a strong running game.
