Bobcats Rumored To Be Interested In Greg Monroe

Charlotte:  The Charlotte Bobcats are somewhat aggressive in kicking the tires. They like Philadelphia’s Evan Turner and they have been kicking around the Detroit Pistons on Greg Monroe. Charlotte is owed a couple of draft picks – one from the Portland Trail Blazers that they look poised to get this year and a Detroit Pistons’ pick that is top eight protected this year. Their own draft pick looks to be headed to Chicago if the ‘Cats make the playoffs and they are angling for a trade to do just that. The Bobcats are also shopping the ending contract of Ben Gordon and there has been talk that they would toss in Bismack Biyombo for the right kind of upgrade, although that might not be much of an inducement. The Bobcats also have the ending contract of Ramon Sessions, who has really struggled to shoot the ball this season. The ‘Cats are in the market. They do have trade chips they are willing to move. The Bobcats as a team are wanting to make a deal, the question is what will they get back for what they appear to be offering in a trade?

If true... fug TAJ GIBSON. LOL, lets do this. Twin towers baby!

Yup, just about to post that same thing up.

Love to have Monroe.

Be crazy if we could pull up deals that land us both Monroe and Turner. I'd gladly give Detroit's pick back to them for Monroe.

PG: Kemba

SG: Henderson

SF: Turner / Kidd-Gilchrist
PF: Monroe / McRoberts / Zeller
C  : Jefferson / Biyombo

This lineup could do some damage.

The big question is could we afford to resign Monroe and Turner though.

If we brought them both in and they both were deemed worthy of re-signing, absolutely... but, the big unknown there would be whether MJ wants to pay the tax or not.

Either full-blown tanking or full-blown playoff push. Pick a path, Bobcats. So far, I like the speculation.

If this is true, it falls in line with what the front office has been telling the fans--that they'll be actively engaged in trying to give the city a playoff team THIS season. I'd also give Detroit's pick back for Monroe, but would this be a similar situation to Turner's, in that he'd soon be a RFA?

Whatever you have to do, get Monroe and extend him after the season, then try to get Turner. Then Draft PJ Hairston

PG) Kemba, FA, draft pick

SG) Henderson, Hairston (though I'd rather Hairston start)

SF) Turner, MKG, Taylor

PF) Monroe, McRoberts, Zeller

C) Jefferson, FA

that's a good young team right there. Though it's obviously just my fantasy

Yes they are from the same draft class they will both be free agents after the season.

If we make these deals we will have 0 picks in the first round. So unless Hairston lasts til our lone second round pick we wont be drafting much this draft.

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?
    • I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!
    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
