Hypothetical: if Clowney falls to Atlanta

I don't think so, we really shouldn't reach to build our team based on what others are doing to build theirs.

ETA: Having said that, if BPA at 28 is an OT/OG then yeah we should pick them regardless.

No to OG in the first. Especially when we have about 5 coming back from injury. Would be stupid. Especially with the needs we have. Always go BPA at positions of need

No, we need OT regardless at some point. If we get a 2nd and 4th for Hardy, we could use one of our two 2nds on Tiny Richardson, who held his own quite well against Clowney while at UT. I don't want in the 1st but with two 2nds it'd be very enticing. Just a thought.

Fair enough.

Doubtful there's an elite OT available at #28. If there is, of course we should consider him. It'd be crazy of us not to considering our roster. Most everyone agrees that our biggest needs are WR, OT, and CB. If an elite player is available at the bottom of the 1st when you're on the clock, you'd be crazy NKT to seriously consider him.

Clowney will not fall that far. I'm sure we will end up with a good tackle anyways. This draft is loaded with great ones. It's one of our biggest needs and gettleman knows that. He will get us one. Not worried one tiny bit

It's actually not that far/out of the question. Atlanta is selecting 6 th, with QB needy teams selecting before them. Couple that with elite players like Greg Robinson and Jake Matthews, it's very possible Clowney is there at 6.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
