Celebrate the start of training camp with Panthers Party 2009 on Monday, Aug. 3, at Wofford College from 6-9 p.m. Festivities will include performances by the TopCats, Sir Purr and Big Daddy Purr with the Panthers practicing at 6:40 p.m. Admission and parking for the event are free.

Panthers Party 2009 will feature contests, giveaways and more in addition to live music by popular local band "The Enforcers." Drawings will be held for numerous prizes, including two tickets to a Panthers preseason game and Wofford College football season tickets. The Panthers will set up Junior Training Camp for kids so they can participate in their own version of training camp through interactive football games and drills. Other children's games and face painting will be available. Souvenirs, food and drinks will be sold. (No alcoholic beverages or pets allowed).

Fans are encouraged to wear their best Panthers attire for the Greatest Panthers Fan Contest, presented by the Herald-Journal. The winner of the adult age group (14 and older) will receive two tickets to a Panthers preseason game, and the winner of the child age group (6-13) will get the chance during training camp to be a Panther Pal, where they will have a special opportunity to watch a Panthers' practice from field level and meet players after practice.

All activities will take place behind the Gibbs Stadium ticket office on Twitty Street, overlooking the Panthers' practice fields near the main entrance to the viewing area. Fans' first opportunity to see the Panthers take the field this year will be on Monday, Aug. 3, at 9:10 a.m. when the team conducts its first training camp practice. Training camp is scheduled to continue through Aug. 20. All training camp practices are free and open to the public with each session lasting between 90 minutes and two hours. Please be aware that practice times and lengths are subject to change without notice.Get the complete practice schedule.

The Panthers have conducted training camp for all 15 of their seasons at Wofford College, one of the finest training facilities and most fan-friendly training camps in the NFL.

PANTHER PALS

Panther Pals, a partnership of the Panthers, Wofford College and Team Spartanburg, offers children between the ages of 6 and 13 a special opportunity to watch part of select morning practices from field level and then spend time with a player or small group of players after practice. Each day's experience is unique and dependent on player schedules and availability as determined by the Panthers.

Children can register for their chance to be a Panther Pal at the Team Spartanburg tent at most morning practices. (Schedule subject to change without notice.)

The tent is located outside the main gate to the practice fields. Five names will be randomly chosen about 30 minutes before the end of the practice session. The children selected will receive a Panther Pal T-shirt and will be escorted to a special area to watch the conclusion of practice.

When practice is over, Panther Pals meet the participating players, talk to them, and stay with them while they sign autographs on their way to the training facility.

    • I really appreciate Bill explaining his methodology here because that gives interested parties a chance to try and recreate the results themselves. I believe that it's safe to assume that despite emphasis being placed on WRs that Chuba Hubbard is one of the Panthers' top-5 weapons. Considering targets, yardage, receptions, etc... Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette are also on the list. Jalen Coker's success might have snuck him in there as well. I can't draw a conclusion on who #5 is though. I've narrowed it down to Diontae Johnson, David Moore, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and possibly Rico Dowdle if they're taking into account his production for the Cowboys in 2024.
    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
