Steven A. Smith and Skip are looking like idiots right now. I mean they are already idiots.

Dont even know who Khalil Mack is.

Regarding Kiper's mock 3.0 with Mack as no1 and passing on Clowney/Manziel.

Smith: "Some dude from Buffalo?" ......... "He could probably play."

Lol. Those fools no nothing about football outside of Richard Sherman, Peyton Manning, and Colin Kaepernick.

Keith McGill, CB (6-3 1/8, 213) — McGill — who was at the combine — ran the 40-yard dash in 4.54 seconds on both attempts. He had a 35 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 10-6 broad jump. McGill is probably going to get drafted toward the end of the second day of the draft, somewhere between pick Nos. 70-96 in the third round.

 

 

Kelvin Benjamin, WR (6-foot-5, 242 pounds) — Benjamin had a 33-inch vertical jump, a 4.50-second short shuttle, and then stood on the rest of his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine. Benjamin had an impressive pro-day workout. He showed that he’s a very good route runner and caught the ball extremely well. I would imagine that this workout gives him an opportunity to be picked late in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

 

Two guys who could help the Panthers showed well at their Pro Day.

 

Benjamin in particular, with the "good route runner" label added, could possibly shoot up boards now as his route running was to have been his achilles heel, is touted here.

Both were project types.  I guess I should have mentioned that.

 

McGill has played only one yr at CB and made the Senior Bowl, so I figure we would work him into our zone.

Same with Benjamin, but before, I hated to take a guy in the first that might be a project.

 

Both, tall, project guys who might turn out well.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but the most stupid mock draft hands down goes to NFL.com Charles Davis, who had the Panthers going for Carlos Hyde the RB from Ohio State in the first round with the 28th pick. I'm guessing he doesn't know that we have 3 RB's, a need at offensive line and wide receiver. Even richer is that two picks after us, he has the 49ers taking Kelvin Benjamin, someone I think the Panthers would grab.

Sadly, Charles Davis choose the Panthers to take Hyde in his first mock draft, saying: "It's time to start over at the RB position, and Hyde is this year's Eddie Lacy (and possibly better).

 

Mr. Davis outdoes himself in his second mock draft choosing Hyde for the Panthers, saying that he could "assume the rushing workload" as if JStew and Deangelo are going anywhere.

 

It gets better, as Davis shows that he is not lazy, just very stupid or ignorant of the Panthers depth chart by predicting they choose Auburn's RB Tre Mason in his 3rd mock draft, only saying: "Put on a very nice performance at the combine." (OH THE EFFORT!)

 

Three weeks later, Charles finally sees on ESPN that the Panthers are lacking WRs (the only time we seem to make ESPN asides from Skip Bayless calling out Cam Newton for "pouting" or some other BS) and predicts we take LSU WR Jarvis Landry (as if we did not learn our lesson with LSU WRs, *cough cough BRANDON LAFELL cough cough*)

 

At this rate, by his 9th mock draft Charles Davis might actually have a reasonable selection chosen for Carolina.

 

To his credit, at least he wasn't lazy and put down Cyrus Kouandjio on all his mock drafts.

VT Pro Day DB's

 

Antone Exum, CB (5-foot-11 3/8, 219 pounds) — Exum ran the 40-yard dash in 4.53 and 4.55 seconds. He had a 33 1/2-inch vertical jump and 9-foot-11 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.18 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.01 seconds. Exum is a well-built individual, and showed good fluidity in pass coverage and also an ability to track the ball well. Exum was a highly regarded player two years ago, but suffered a knee injury playing basketball in January of 2013. Exum came back to play in the 2013 season, but only played in three games and did not play at the same level as the previous season.

 

Kyle Fuller, CB (5-11 1/4, 193) — Fuller stood on his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine. He had a very good workout, dropping back well and showing fluid/loose hips in pass coverage. Fuller could be selected late in the first round or early in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

      Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates

      This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
