Thanks for the hard work James.

Hey Getts, keep that knife in your hand until all of Hurney's retirement plan contracts are purged from the roster.
Makes sense when you consider his cost vs. production in our cap situation.

Great guy, wish him the best.
Classy dude.
The Panthers blog in the C.O. quotes Anderson as saying:

"They appreciate what I did. We're loaded at the position," Anderson added. "They thanked me and wanted me to go out and see what the market is like, which is why they're doing it now."

So it sounds like they wanted him to renegotiate and he wouldn't, so they're letting him test the market compared to whatever restructuring they were offering.

You may see # 50 back at some point...
One of my all time favorites. Very modest and fan oriented. I feel like he was such a nice guy, and such a solid, consistent player.

LB James Anderson designated as June 1 cut. That means $1.4M of accelerated bonus $ goes vs this yr's cap (after 6/1) and $2.8M vs '14 cap.

Means the team is roughly 7 million under the cap. With 3 million of that available June 1st.
The OP should be edited now..

Anderson is small potatoes. What isn't, is there are two OLBs now that have an injury history.

Gettleman best address that.

Pretty sick and tired of hearing 'Hurney did this, Hurney caused that. Fox this and Fox that'.

My tickets cost the same.

As I just wrote the check for $4200 for this year's tickets, i really have to ask myself what I am doing.

I expect Gettleman and Rivera to put a competitive, at least 8-8 or 9-7 team on the field this year. I don't want to hear excuses why they don't.

I suspect that is were a lot of PSL holders are coming from.

This is the reason we don't take the cap hit this year. We need to win now. A lot of you are all about "down the road". Been hearing this since 08, which was 5 years ago now. We need to put something together now. Otherwise we become a joke franchise.

Didn't we make the playoffs in 08 and return virtually the same team in 09?

So does this mean that money could go towards a signing now and then be designated when that date happens or we have to wait until it becomes available?

Have to wait till it becomes available.
Honestly, what was the point of designating him a June 1st cut? There's not likely to be anyone worth signing at that point. Should have just taken the entire hit this year :|
I think this was actually a good move. He was slightly better than JAG imo and was expendable in my view. Good player though, I'm not trying to take that away from him. I still like what we're doing.

Room has been made for something to happen so we'll just have to wait and see. Gettleman may have a particular player in mind.

Not sure why you are quoting me as I agree with you.

I'm sick of hearing about the 'Panthers plans'.

I want to hear about the Panthers results.

I want to see results, you know, in person at the stadium.

I'm sick and tired of hearing the excuses...bad draft...over the cap...injuries...lockouts...Hurney, Fox, Richardson, 'lions and tigers and bears, oh my'.

The best yet, '..Rivera 'learning how to be a Coach'...hmmm, ok.

My point is, I don't care who they cut, who they bring in, just win and look like a pro team while doing it and oh yeah, stop being the other team's highlight game so I get to watch the 'awesome' play of the Giants and Broncos over and over and over again.

Never in my life have I seen a pro team consistently suck so badly in the spotlight....and worst yet, at home.
It is amazing how people change their opinion based on what the teams does.

Last year :James is worth every penny.

This year: He is an overpaid backup.

Looking at someone specifically.

I'm pretty consistent with my "I hate all these assholes, they're all overpaid, cut everyone" attitude.
I need to find the hurney "deal with it gif" for the people who dont like what our roster and cap situation is.
It's not that Anderson's awful. He just isn't as good as what he was being paid.

Like him as a player, but I can understand the move.
The Panthers must be pretty confident that Beason who has basically been injured for 2-years, and Davis who has had 3 knee major injuries are going to be healthy. Actually, cutting Anderson surprised me because at the very least he has been a pretty reliable and durable starter.
He couldn't check tight ends, he got murdered by gonzo,Graham, Whitten and most of them. He was a liability

Good point. It's strange bc James is fast and athletic but he just could not cover consistently.
te are becoming more of a constant weapon. so you have to uprade against it. its just that simple.

James Anderson heard his cell phone ring early Tuesday, rolled over and saw it was someone from the Panthers’ office calling.
“Oh, no,” Anderson thought. “This can’t be good.”
It wasn’t.
Rob Rogers, the Panthers’ salary-cap manager, told Anderson he was being released and he needed to come to Bank of America Stadium for a physical.
