  1. Past hour
  2. The 49ers are having a Lions like season this year. The injuries are insane but they just keep winning, like the 2024 Lions did.
  3. I think Dan pushes more than Fritter did but not enough to shed that title. I think that's a huge assumption. He was second tier up there. Reid and owners being teir 1. So he actually could have been and still been a good fit. They have done lots of questionable stuff while he was up there but they were winning so it all flew under the radar anyways. Him coming out and being quoted the way he was leads me to think he runs that way plenty.
  4. Eh...I don't think Carroll is to blame for Mayer. He is a 3rd year player and has never really been able to elevate above a JAG status across multiple coaches. TBH, I think he is much more Tommy Tremble than he is Brock Bowers. Tremble might even be a good comp. I am not lobbying to get rid of Tremble but he has basically hit his Ian Thomas wall. He is who he is. If you lined up all 5 years of statistics and tape, you'd be hard pressed to determine which player was the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th year guy. He's a decent and rosterable TE. He's also a guy that we should be actively trying to upgrade over.....and we have. Sanders was the first and then we still drafted Evans. Some of this was we run a TE heavy offense and had an even worse TE room but some of it has also been that Tremble is a complimentary/role player. He really shouldn't be getting anywhere near the bulk of snaps.
  5. Yeah, I didn't get the impression any of you guys would be trying to convince him to stay.
  6. Agree about Tepper, but we did hear inside chatter that Dan was the one guy who was Never afraid to tell him he was wrong. Likewise, I have a hard time believing a guy from the Chiefs environment would be okay with that sort of situation.
  7. Dan wouldn't have been hired if he wasn't. Getting in Nicole's ear also reinforces that for me. Doesn't sound like Dan the pkayer but sure sounds like Dan the AGM and GM. Dave only hires yes men and sales people.
  8. I don't honestly even remember who his starting TE was in 2023 (his only OC season). He has made at least some use of our TEs this season but I get the feeling that after last year they were expecting more from Sanders than were currently getting.
  9. As I keep saying, defensive coordinator here is our most interesting offseason storyline. That will be a very interesting thing to watch unfold. 2027 for DC? I am not sure about that. I think a lot depends on the remaining games and which direction they chose to go in the offseason. If we quintuple down on Bryce, I think Canales is on a hotter seat than we may know. That would be a bet on the future being Bryce but not necessarily Dave. To me that's an indication of the choice. So, if we struggle these last three games and then slide backwards in 2026, expect a rip roaring fire to be under Canales seat as the season continues. I wouldn't even be surprised to see him canned during the season. Now, if we opt to move on in some way from Bryce(new starter, trade him, decline 5th year, etc) then I think that buys Dave a little big of grace(situation dependent) if he is trying to get a new QB established in this offense. That leash may shorten or grow based on the direction they pivot. So, the seat could get cooler or hotter. Results will matter in either case. Tepper has shown to be impatient with head coaches, so we will see how he handles this slight amount of success.
  10. Top NFL defenses in "Havoc" which is the % of plays a defense gets a pressure, TFL, forced fumble, INT, or pass breakup: We rank at the bottom of the league in this department. --- No one is disagreeing with the data in your text. We know we need pass rushers to get more pressure on the QBs, better play in the secondary to improve our pass defense, and some impact guys at LB. But, Evero isn't playing with a stacked deck. Our defensive roster is mediocre at best. Despite our talent deficiency, Evero has statistically managed to field a middle of the road defense in Carolina. Our main issue is on the offensive side of the ball. We are only averaging 18.9 points per game. That ranks 28th of out of 32 teams. Only the Browns, Saints, Titans, and Raiders score less points per game than the Panthers. FYI: We've been outscored by the woeful Saints 37-24 in our 2 games this season. Our point total averages out to 12 pts a game and theirs is less than 20 (actually 18.5 pts per game). How is that Evero's fault? https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/points-per-game
  11. Understood, but this is still a pretty bad look for the league. They don't really want these kinds of conversations.
  12. Well, there's no cap on front office spending, so at least if he needs to pay out the wazoo to get people there, nothing's stopping it.
  13. I'm honestly looking beyond DC at this point. He's too green and is making too many simple mistakes. I think he's gone after next year. I think the intention in LV was to use Mayer and Bowers similar to Gronk/Hernandez in NE. That's never really struck me as Carroll's MO though after watching him for years out here in Seattle. He's talented enough and I think he just got lost behind the phenom that is Bowers because he couldn't develop in Carroll's system. I'm surprised Bowers is used as much as he is, though they really don't have anyone else. TE's don't really exist as focus receivers in Carroll's offense. I live in the PNW so I've been subjected to a lot of Seahawks football. Coaches other utilize their TEs. We should too. Tremble is OK, but he's always been a project as a receiver. Again, all this is of we could get him at the right price. I wouldn't pay a lot because we need to spend on defense.
  14. David. Hey, money talks.....it has been acknowledged that Tepper isn't shy on spending. He's had the NFL equivalents of used car salesman after used car salesman line up to grift him of a big chunk. Canales is one of them. Until that changes, it's gonna be tough to build anything to last.
  15. Well it's who they tied themselves to for at least another year but i agree. They will be lucky to find a useful contributor but until I see the DC situation change I am presuming it's SSDD. Well it sounds like maybe in 2027.
  16. Yet still talking about me (should probably sing a chorus of "I've Got You Under my Skin") Here's the bottom line, dude. You made an incorrect statement because you're conflating arguments. Yes, Bryce does fit the scheme we run. That doesn't make him good or mean we should keep him around for the future, but it's true. You should really just accept that and move on because all you're doing now is making yourself look worse. ... PS: One question. Should I go ahead and write a response about Scott Fitterer in anticipation of you trying to dodge the topic and attack me again or are you looking at a different route this time?
  17. Canales doesn't have a history of TE utilization, however. I would imagine they will try to upgrade at WR. Legette has already seen his PT cut by about mid-season. He went from 70-90% utilization on offensive snaps to 55-70% utilization. I think you see that they basically are aware that he just isn't a capable NFL player. He is having a sophomore slump but that's tough when you also had a freshman slump. The fans see a lot of potential in that WR room, and I do to an extent, but you also have to acknowledge that despite the improvement, it's still one of the NFL's worst WR corps.
  18. Silly to say "the Rams should have won in regulation" because of a failed two-point conversion with 6 and 1/2 minutes left to go in the game. The game would have played out completely differently if one team had a lead after this drive rather than them being tied.
  19. lol, I'm done with you. Which is why I replied to someone else boss and you still doing what you do.
  20. You didn't list the refs as an option? I'm not just talking about us. Officiating around the league seems as bad as it's ever been this year.
  21. They have had some issues at the QB spot this year. Purdy was injured and missed several games resulting in Mac Jones having to come off of the bench. Still, they have a solid 96.87 passer rating for the season. What's killing them is their pass defense. Their rating against the pass is 101.31! That's terrible when compared to the top pass defenses around the league. The 49ers rank 26 out of 32 teams in stopping the pass. I know they have had some injury issues this year so that could explain why their pass defense is mediocre. Fortunately for them, they are able to be an exception to the historical trend. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-average-team-passer-rating
  22. I think Scourton/Umanmeilen's ceilings will ultimately be potential Wonnum/Jones II replacements and that's about it. Umanmeilen has the higher ceiling but he looks pretty far from being able to reach it. At this point you have to consider them rotational guys and try to get actual elite/starting talent at EDGE. Let them develop as rotational guys and hopefully the light clicks on eventually. I would imagine any/all OC changes will be basically forced by ownership prior to firing Dave.
  23. I’m really glad Rod finally benched Anderson. He’s only had one start since thanksgiving
  24. Nicole? I mean, if the Teppers are lying about being hands off, I get that. But that doesn't sound like Dan Morgan. Also gotta figure they now have a guy from one of the best organizations in the NFL. Can't believe he's wanna stay with that kinda sh-t show
  25. We're running an offense based on Weat Coast concepts. If you think back over the best versions of that system, you generally find yourself remembering the names of great receiving tight ends. Throw in that unless it's in the plans to try and ship Legette somewhere, we're probably not looking at another wide receiver, so TE makes sense.
