Panthers bring back TE Feleipe Franks
Navy_football replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sounds good in theory, but in reality rookies are a lot more of a crap shot than vets. They have not leveled out the FA imbalance. The defense has been poured into the last 2 seasons. The offense picked up 2 guards and a RB. The defense has an entire new defensive line sans Derrick Brown, completely new LBs - twice, Moehrig and Mike Jack. They've overhauled and upgraded every position except Derrick Brown, Jaycee and FS. Ashawn Robinson, -

Dalton did have decent numbers that game but he was under immense pressure in Seattle in the rain. If I remember correctly, Zavala gave up 14 QB pressures that game alone. That's inexcusable and the position certainly needed to be addressed. But just think of what we could have done with a center like Frazier, JPJ, Linderbaum, or Humphrey. I realize Dan didn't have the opportunity to draft all these guys. But having a stud in the shortest route to the QB calling protections for the other guys, that's how you build for any QB to run an offense. I'm an offensive line guy. It's my favorite group on the field. I call it fat man ballet. It's a combination of quick feet, balance, bend, strength, reflexes and pure grit. Center is your core leadership on the field, tackles are a combination of finesse and strength, and guards, they're angry dudes that get to have way too much fun hitting people. -

The tell will be when they start drafting olinemen. Hunt will have to be replaced with a draft pick eventually. -

I think I agree with everything here. Though I do think something needed to be done with the offensive guards situation from 2023, Hunt and Lewis contracts were overkill. My point was they were not brought in to help fix Bryce Young. They were brought in to help evaluate him and to address a huge glaring hole of a weakness on the team. Every QB's kryptonite is immediate pressure up the middle. Dalton had good numbers against the Seahawks that season, but he was absolutely demolished that game. No way he would have lasted another 3 or 4 games. -

Trading up is a suckers move. If you are a good FO you will find a way to make the best of who's available. If you don't get your guy the odds are he will probably be available in 3 years because he will be drafted by a bad team. -
I heard it might be quiet cuz their next coach is still coaching in the tournament

I'm ok with doing it if it's the final piece to going all in, as long as you're legitimately in a position to do so. Rams trading 2 1sts and a 2nd for Burns when they desperately needed an edge rusher to be a top contender for a Lombardi. Not a fan, but I get it. Rings are more important than picks, but they were missing one or 2 pieces to be dominant on both sides of the ball. Trading 2 1sts for Parsons when GB wasn't on the verge of greatness, an overpay in my estimation. -

All NHL teams playing, a loss here would not shock me the Canadians have A LOT more to play for right now than we do. -

They violated at least two of my cardinal rules with that trade up. I don’t believe in trading future first round picks, for anything. That’s what got Hurney on my poo list. That is the big rule. The other rule is, if a player worth that kind of investment is sitting at the 1.1, the team with the pick will not give it up. You are trading for less than that, if you trade. So maybe do not do it. -

Brissett 3366 yards 23/8 41.2 QBR in 14 games, starting 12. Bryce 3011 23/11 47.6 QBR starting 16 games. Let's not pretend Bryce was a dominant force at the QB position. And I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying about getting a QB2 with the potential to be a QB 1. None of those QBs were taken to be a QB1, but they became that anyway when given the opportunity. Develop a QB2 and develop him into a QB that could be a QB1. If he does and you end up trading him as a potential starter to another team for a 1st or 2nd, great. If you keep him, great. Either way, he's still an asset to the team. There's nothing wrong with developing assets. -

Its better just to stay put and take one that falls to you than trade up. If you are drafting in the top 10 you take a qb unless your starter was out due to injury. Even then you probably should take one anyway. Rinse and repeat until you have a franchise guy and his replacement on the roster. -

Been saying it for years now. Would rather have tried it that way than trading ti the 1.1. -

Your dreaming. None of those guys you mentioned were signed to challenge anyone. Young would smoke Brissett in a qb competition. Get real dude. -
BREAKING: Panthers have interest in Deebo Samuel
Jon Snow replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
He doesn't suck. But still no thanks. They could use the money more wisely spent in other area's. I think wr is way down on the list of where they urgently need to upgrade. -

We're in a unique position where our starting QB is at the bottom end of the league in performance. A backup like Brisset last year would have challenged Bryce for the starting role, hell, he might have taken it given how he performed last year. He wouldn't have challenged a Mahomes or a Burrow, but the need of a QB2 with the potential to be a long term QB1 if need be is now pretty apparent after significant injuries derailed their respective seasons. After we've established our long term starting QB, keep trying to develop a QB2 with potential to be a QB1. Don't want to end up in KC or Cinci situation. -
