  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah that is true. And maybe a two year defacto commitment would cover us if we drafted and developed a couple in the next couple of years. If this guy is the prize of the LB class he won’t have to settle for a glorified prove it deal.
  3. Well there will be about 5 or 6 vet qb's available in FA this year according to Shefter. He thinks Tau and Murray will be among them. Granted neither will be a threat to unseat Young unfortunately. He goes so far as to say they all will be cheap to acquire.
  4. That’s definitely possible. I just hold to traditional job and feel like no matter how distasteful you may find the task, it falls to you as the coach to at least go through the motions. I think he texted him. I hate that.
  5. I would feel warm inside if they actually addressed the QB position. At the same time let’s be realistic, they are starting Bryce. Spending too much draft capital on a backup can get in line behind more pressing needs.
  6. I don't believe Ron ducked him. I believe Ron had had enough of his crap and said ship his ass. Its well known that he had an issue with Cam and the got into it with him more than once before he was let go. Its also well known the Smith didn't want to talk to anyone but John Casey. No, I don't believe Ron ducked him. I believe Ron said whatever he wanted to say to Smith long before Gettleman sent him packing.
  7. Uhh, yeah that is pretty steep. Here is where I am going to say Dan will be an asset. He will know if we can get by with a little less for a lot less. My ideal would be get a good bona fide pro level starter and shoot for the all pro or pro bowl guy in the draft.
  8. I don’t know how big any lies may be. There is clearly apparent viewpoint bias for sure. But even when people stretch and bend the truth, there is still a truth component somewhere in there. I believe him when he says Ron ducked it for instance. (That would not have been a pleasant experience). In the end you can’t cheat on your wife, and everybody knows it, and claim to be 100% honest. Edit: would I believe that maybe he said something to Ron that sort of gave him the green light to stay out of it? Could be and he is leaving that out.
  9. He statistically is the worst starter in the nfl the last 3 years. Why would you care about stats?
  10. I loved to watch him play as much as anyone but I would not take his word on anything. He's a self righteous prick and he knows it.
  11. Didn't save. Here are my 3 o'clock game picks. Just a couple bucks on each
  12. The cost would be too much to jump Atl and TB so just stay put. The LB class is deep this year so I'm not worried so much in that regard. We will just have to see how it shakes out. We will have a shot at a good player in my view but it all depends on what position starts a run on players. It will not be qb this year. My fear it will be defensive players this year after what Seattle was able to accomplish with their last 2 drafts. That will limit our options in the 1st round if it were to play out that way. Let all pray for a wr run before our pick.
  13. Mcshay just said he thinks he is a 3rd round pick. Yeah eff that
  14. Hope it works that way. An ancillary benefit of having so many holes.
  15. I made the point it was one side of the story. But what he said about Gettleman, the chronology, seemed pretty accurate. What I remember is Smitty’s contract was prohibitively expensive due to its structure and he would not renegotiate. Sort of forced their hand because it was a very high figure for the era. That could tie in with him wanting out. I remember I pointed that out but people didn’t want to hear that at the time. I don’t blame them, Smitty was probably my favorite Panther I ever watched play, again… at the time. He might still be if I went back and watched. My thing with it is mostly Gettleman dropping the bomb at the combine. It foreshadowed his Norman melt down, Mr Tact.
  16. How can they be sure he’ll succeed if they don’t give him every chance? In case I need to say it, that is sarcasm.
  17. I like the idea that if we have an opportunity to trade back due to a QB or maybe a really good WR falling that we do it and get some better value a little lower and at the same time have ammo to move up in the second. I don’t like where we are sitting there. I’d at least like to move ahead of Atlanta and TB in round 2. If we could swing it.
  18. I thought Smith wanted to leave, and/or asked to be out.
  19. Devin lloyd is too expensive when you consider other alternatives that would provide us with similar production. I'd much rather have Leo Chenal. He should be much cheaper
  20. Today
  21. Tells me, after watching Morgan, that we will see a very active FA period trying to get us to taking BPA. At the very least day 1. edit: Dan doesn’t seem to be too worried about the cap. I believe a direct quote from McAfee is “you can always make money” when asked about the available cap. Cap keeps going up every year. A salary now that is very high will probably be average in three to four years so I won’t sweat that stuff too much.
