REPORT: Cade Mays will hit the free-agent market
strato replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well we paid Hunt probably 20 million to rehab and are giving Icky 16 or 17 to rehab, and we will have to pay for his replacement as well. It is a dilemma for me because I am a big believer that you win with a stout OL, and DL too. But paying a guard 100 million to protect your little QB is fuging ridiculous. I like Hunt he doesn’t suck but we weren’t getting our money’s worth when he was healthy IMO. We need to trim his money and I guess that means he goes with it. And it can’t happen this year. We definitely need to draft a bunch of O linemen the next couple of years. I really don’t like hearing all this TE from Oregon talk. -
Patriots by three scores. Seahawks by a hair if Darnold doesn't hand the game to the Rams which is always a strong possibility.
-
Yeah. Probably will be close. I am not rooting for anyone don’t really care that much. Same for the AFC game, don’t really care. Except it is Sean Payton, I always like it when he loses. But it’s New England, I can’t root for them. It’s going to be 23 degrees at kickoff in Denver, wind will 12-15mph, dropping to 13 degrees by 7pm with snow predicted to start before halftime.

REPORT: Cade Mays will hit the free-agent market

Most people will agree with this in principle. But it's situational and also depends on the results you're getting. We were middle of the league in sacks given up. Had the 27th passing offense. And if a few instances that went our way turned out differently we very likely could have been staring at another 5 win season. For the highest salary cap percentage to the OL in the entire league. While we had basically nothing at linebacker and not much at all consistent pass rush to speak of as we were leaning on two rookies. And despite all that our defense which has been on a lopsided end of investment compared to the offense managed to go from league worst and giving up historic single season points in 2024 to middle of the league in 2025 which is quite impressive all things considered. So yes the investment in the OL versus the results certainly matters or at least to should to anyone that would like to continue to improve and also maybe finally win another playoff game. -
Tony Pauline: Panthers’ Biggest Roster Needs

Still think that if Carson Beck is there on Day 3 you have to take him. QB depth in drafts has been atrocious as of late but what he is good at translates very well to what the Panthers need a QB to do. -
Thought experiment: put Bryce on the Texans and put Stroud on the Panthers. When you do that, how do you see them performing? I see the Panthers in the NFC Championship Game.

There is never “too much” tied into the offensive or defensive line. Did you see the receivers and DB’s that Miami made it to the National Championship Game with? come on son. -

Cold with some snow possible in Denver. Will be in low 30s in Seattle this evening but clear. -
Ball wasn’t meant for him. He’s mean to draw the safety for Burden to uncover late, or you check down to Kmet. It’s a true two read play and Caleb clearly was just throwing to what he saw rather than understanding the context of the play design.

Aho has been dreadful again in the dot. The whole team looked out of sync last night except for converting the high dangers bus played out of his mind again and James Reimer being total dog poo.
-
Average margin of victory in the St. Louis/Seattle series this year was 1.5 points. In fact, if you recall, the Rams basically choked away the season sweep in Seattle. I would be very surprised if that game isn't very close(one score or less).

I'm interested to see which version of Sam Darnold shows up today.

It's about the June 1st deadline, basically. https://www.spotrac.com/news/_/id/1160/understanding-nfl-dead-cap https://operations.nfl.com/inside-football-ops/nfl-operations/2025-nfl-free-agency/contract-language/

Championship Round Playoff Thread

Very sound thinking. I am leaning more towards Denver. I think their home field advantage is just enough to tip the scale. I fully expect a clunky, somewhat unwatchable game disguised as a defensive battle. Bad Sam Darnold, come on down! It's time to make your appearance. -
No idea about the AFC. i hate to pick Denver so I won’t. I think LA falls short though. Their defense is a little suspect and Seattle is a hard place to go into. Rams do have a lot of trips in there and it might not be as much of a hurdle to them as someone traveling cross country that never plays there. We’ll see what kind of bullshit the refs pull today.
-
That is what I thought, but the place I looked did not say that. I’ll worry about it when we trade somebody I guess.

If they aren’t willing to pay Mayes I would think they have something in mind. Just not telling us about it yet. -

It's long overdue I agree. -
The dead cap can be split across two years, as well.

When we were talking about trading Bryce last year (dammit) I looked it up, and of course don’t remember for sure. I just looked it up again. I found that any signing bonus paid that was pro rated over the length of the contract comes due immediately. All guaranteed money comes due also.

You mean, no more recipes for squirrel jerky or racoon kabobs? Nooooooooooo!!! Dude has been nothing but a sideshow since he's been here. I'm cool sending him packing for the right price. Maybe he has a Ted Ginn Junior path where he clearly he's not lived up to the early hype and could figure it out later in his career. We don't have the time for that kind of patience with him.

Haven't seen this posted yet so.... My predictions(4-6 so far after an 0-4 Divisional) New England 17, Denver 13 Closer than anticipated as Jared Sitdham proves to be a much more adept playoff QB than CJ Stroud. Ugly, defensive game. St. Louis 31, Seattle 24 Sam Darnold doesn't catch lightning in a bottle again and provides at least 2 TO's(has 6 total versus them this season) to the Rams which proves to be the difference as Seattle's potent rushing offense(153 YPC vs Rams in 2025) isn't utilized enough to keep Stafford at bay.
