I've been a member for a long time. If not the very beginning very close. There have been some great posters that no longer post and there were many tools as well. I've enjoyed coming here for the ups and downs of many seasons and off seasons. Billions of opinions and nearly every one of them were wrong. LOL.

I've read a couple of places where he really increased his stock from a day 3 to day 2. I love that he can play multiple positions. This was a very good article though. I will be watching to see how many of these guys end up Panthers.
-
Say we trade for him and take his rookie contract. Can we select to use the option. He is a 1st round pick. I'm not sure if the option year is still available if he is traded. That's why I said 2 years. But if not your right 1 year rental. That said I probably wouldn't cough up more than a 3rd.

After Lawrence any of these QBs could be better than or worse than Tua and Darnold. Both are on rookie contracts so moving them would be pretty easy. I know Tua looked bad but he also has some pretty decent games. I think he should have spent the season behind Fitzpatrick.
-
Both teams have indicated that they like their current QB position. I could see where you think Darnold is replaceable but I don't get the Tua comment. He was a rookie and made a lot of rookie mistakes. Because he didn't light it up like Hebert did doesn't mean he's done growing. I'd take Tua off their hands. I think he would be nice in our offense but I think they stick with him and are using the "we're going to draft a QB" as a way to get a team to trade up with them and get more picks.

I think this years draft may see the most 1st round trades in a long time.

This is not as unlikely as many may think. I would love our options if it does pan out like this. How would you feel if after Jacksonville takes Lawrence. The Jets do not take a QB and stick with Darnold (which has been mentioned in the press) Miami passes on a QB too and stick with Tua. Same thing here many have said they will stick with Tua Atlanta will take Fields or Wilson Cincinnati take Sewell Philly passes on a QB Lions have Goff That leave Fields or Wilson, and Lance.

Schefter thinks Darnold worth 1st rounder if traded
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Ja Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it's funny that everyone on this board has their favorite and everyone else is hot garbage. Darnold is not that bad. I think he has been put in the worst possible situation for a young QB. He may not be the best option but he should be considered and option. What i think is favorable is that his cost will not be too high. I don't think anyone is going to offer a 1st for him. Most believe the Jets are taking a QB with the 2nd pick and will move on from Darnold. The Jets need to move him or lose him in FA in a couple of years without compensation. Now is the time to get premium value out of him. 2nd is probably as high as anyone will go. Like I said in another post. Trade our 2nd to NYJ, trade back at 8 and pick later in round 1 and pick up the 2nd we lost. He's probably the best option where we can retain most of our draft capital. -
If NYJ are going to draft a QB, which most mocks say they are, Sam is still on his rookie contract. Trade a 2nd round pick for him. Trade back at 8 and take a late first and regain a 2nd and draft an O-line.

The Journey Continues—a quick Panthers vid
DaveThePanther2008 replied to ellis's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not bad. Too bad they didn't have more of Chinn, Moore, YGM, Brown and other budding stars. Burns is a beast and CMC is too. Anderson isn't really long term and Moore had more exciting highlights. Thanks for posting because anything is better than nothing but we have so many more young players that this only shows 2 or 3. -
Where was it said how we rated on his list. It is hindsight but no where have I seen that we were on any less desirable list. Honestly, it sounds more like sour grapes than anything. How about we just didn't have a good enough deal than "he didn't want to come here"

Too many of you are spoiled on the super mobile QB that takes off and scrambles. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice to have one but pocket awareness is as important as being able to scramble. I don't think we need a QB that will have set running plays to alter a defensive game plan. We have multiple weapons to make a defense worry. We need a QB that is calm under pressure and can make plays with his arm. I like Wilson out of all the QBs that might be available to us but also think the Jones will be apart of the discussion when our turn comes to pick. Whether we trade down to get him or take him outright at #8. If we don't draft him and he ends up being a star (which I believe he will) this forum will have a meltdown and most of the whiners will be the ones that said HELL NO to Jones. I have my opinions and hopes for a QB. I am going to let the guys that get paid to do this make the decision and hopefully it is the right one. Watson, Wilson, Lance or even Jones.

Top 10 Senior Bowl making noise.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
ECU has had some success in NFL Players. Earnest Byner, Terry Long, Jeff Blake, Robert Jones and Livell Joseph. Who knows maybe he becomes the next ECU player to make it. -
Daniel Jeremiah off NFL.com That QB Jones keeps coming up. I would not be surprised to see New England grab him when they pick. Mid-rounders who might interest us. Robert Hainsey, OL, Notre Dame Quinn Meinerz, interior O-lineman, Wisconsin-Whitewater. D'Ante Smith, OT, East Carolina https://www.nfl.com/news/2021-senior-bowl-daniel-jeremiah-s-top-10-nfl-draft-winners-from-week-of-practic

Non-Draft Left Tackle Option?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to AndrewLaskoski's topic in Carolina Panthers
For a 3rd? I would do it. -
All 32 starting QBs predicted (Matt Williamson)
DaveThePanther2008 replied to CRA's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's not what I have read. I have read this guy is quite smart. I don't know enough about him one way or another but if he's willing to learn who knows how hi his ceiling. -
Would you trade down for this?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to SmokinwithWilly's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's not a bad idea if we cannot get what we wanted. Fitterer has already said he likes to trade down for more picks. If we could get three picks in the top 50 I am sure we would add some serious talent to our team. It wouldn't be a bad idea. If we can get a QB at 8 so be it but I am not sure one will be there at 8. -
Yeah, I'm in agreement on that. Would hate to have to wait to get our first pick in the draft in the 3rd round.

Hypothetically We Land Watson
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TrevorLaurenceTime22's topic in Carolina Panthers
If it were just a typical trade I could see a huge cost but Watson has leverage and if he want to narrow the field down the cost will go down too. The Carolina's is where he played ball and is also from Atlanta so playing in Carolina he'll be close to home. What if he comes out and says he wants to go to Carolina and that's it. The Texans will have to deal with what is offered. While it won't be cheap, I don't think it will be as bad as many make it out to be. We might get away with 3 1st and that's it. -
This year's quarterback shuffle...
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's absurd. Unless you are talking about Lawrence nothing is now or never. We need a QB, no doubt but to insist that we're doomed if we don't address it in the draft is crazy. We'll have an upgrade over TB next year. The question is will it be a Vet or a rookie. -
This year's quarterback shuffle...
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
So you think Mike Mayock and John Gruden are going to take TB's and his contract plus a 2nd? Why not offer a 2nd round pick and be done with it. We played Oakland. They saw how bad TB was. No one is going to take TB off our hands. There isn't a team out there that is going to take Teddy Bridgewater off our hands.
