  1. Just another factor in why SS will be a first ballot HOFer.
  2. Well I won't be surprised if Darnold goes from one shitstorm to another, He'll probably be a part of the trade if the Jets go through with it.
  3. The only true franchise QB in this draft is Lawrence. Lance may have the tools to be a franchise QB but no way is this a guarantee. I think he'll last to 8 anyhow and would take the gamble that he falls that far. Miami isn't taking a QB and if they do I'd rather trade #8 and 2nd round pick for the 18th pick and Tua.
  4. When his name is announced on the nominees I hope we do a poll. How many triple crown receivers are there? Calvin Johnson never won the triple crown and got in first ballot with smaller numbers. Smitty will be a 1st ballot HOFer. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!!!!
  5. Thank god Hurney isn't with us this year. He'd be drafting some obscure OL from Podunk University because he saw on tape that he pancaked a 6'1" 185lb DT in 2019. This draft is going to show the talent of our scouting department, especially if we end up winning the Watson sweepstakes. We'll have limited picks and those picks must produce gems. More importantly those players that moved up in the latter rounds because of the combine and pro days will not slide into the UDFA market. I think it will be critical to nail a couple of these guys to our roster this year.
  6. Agreed but there are probably just as many media folks that love him like we do. Tory Holt was a great receiver on a great offensive team but he wasn't as dangerous as Smitty was. Smitty terrorize defensive coordinators and made plays when they shouldn't have been made. He has one more season before he is eligible but he'll be on the ballot and IMO will be a first ballot HOFer.
  7. Do what they did to Rod Woodson. Move him to Safety and extend his career.
  8. 100% in and no doubt a first ballot. Not only do his numbers say so but he was probably one of the most feared WR in the game for a decade. His highlight reel is full of gasps and haa's. He is arguably the best pound for pound WR to ever play the game. Numbers are not the only criteria for getting in. it also has to do with how dominate you were at your position. Name me one WR you would have rather had than Steve Smith in his prime. He's also one of the very few WR to win the triple crown in receiving. YDs, Rec and TDs. (2005) He is a First Ballot HOFer. No Doubt about it.
  9. Any trade whether it is for Watson or moving up in the draft is going to hurt. We'll give up a ton of picks for Watson and about a 1/2 ton for picks 2, 3 or 4. Our GM is going to have to be very good at finding talent with the picks we have remaining, if any. More importantly he's going to HAVE TO strike gold in the UDFA market. We have a choice. Give up a ton of picks and scramble to build a line around him or stick at 8 and take what comes to us and find a good QB in the free agent market.
  10. I've seen a couple of mocks that have him going before Sewell. So it's not out of the question to see him fall to 8. Or we could take Slater at 8 which would not upset me.
  11. You're probably right but the team can only do so much in the market to improve when his personal salary takes a huge chunk of the overall CAP. The teams that can hit consistently in the draft, especially the lower rounds, can absorb this hit. However, if you miss a couple of years running now the only way to address your deficiencies are through free agency and you may not have the funds available to do it.
  12. Bieniemy is like Rivera. Rivera had many good seasons as a DC and should have been hired long before JR signed him. I don't think this performance changes his outlook but there is something that we must not know about him to get passed up so many times. I know teams want to get their vacancies filled quickly but they didn't even wait until after the SB to have all the opening filled. Someone know why he seems to be invisible to some of these teams. Good God some teams made some really strange choices this offseason as to who their next coach was. They were chosen over EB.
  13. I think it pissed them off that he didn't get caught until he almost reached the endzone. I'm not too offended by their actions though. Got him to the ground, demobilized him and cuffed him quickly so this didn't drag out.
  14. Dude you're showing our age. I remember watching this on TV. I loved Mike Curtis. Big Baltimore Colts fan back in those days. Funny thing is this guy, if I remember correctly, tried to sue him. Curtis's reply was "I was doing my job, tackle the man with the football." Johnny U was my hero.
  15. Yeah, If the greedy bastards weren't so greedy their team might be able to provide some decent protection. I have no sympathy for a QB whose salary hit is nearly 1/4 or more of the teams CAP.
  16. You know everyone wants to put this on the refs but many of those PI calls were legit. KC has been known for grabbing and they got caught in some crucial plays. Many may have wanted KC to win and were anticipating BS calls and when they were called it fit their narrative. Though the game was out of hand the roughing the passer on Mahomes was probably the worst call of the game. He was under pressure and JPP barely touched him but was flagged for a roughing the passer. I don't think you can put the refs on the same level as the gift they gave Denver in 2015/16.
  17. I thought he has been there only 3 years. But, that's better.
  18. If we could pick him up for a low round draft pick I would be onboard with signing him. I think given the proper weapons he could thrive in our offense. Not saying he's my #1 choice but if it meant starting TB5 or signing Minshew. I'd rather sign Minshew. My priority list. Trade for Watson Trade up for Wilson/Fields Trade a lower round pick for Tribisky or Minshew Whatever is necessary to keep TB5 from under center in 2021.
  19. I didn't want either team to win going into the game but once I started watching I was pulling for Tampa Bay. Just something about how all the media was talking about how great Mahomes is and all he had to do to get the GOAT was to beat Brady. Tampa outplayed KC. You can be all whiny and bitchy or just accept it. Tampa Bay had a great offensive and defensive game plan and KC scored FG while TB scored TDs.
  20. What a double edge sword. I don't want to see Brady or the Bucs win because I would gag knowing they'll be in here in bunches bragging about how they got two SB to our none. Don't want KC because I think their arrogant and I just don't care for anyone to win back to back. All I care about is the numbers on my board. Hopefully the best thing that comes out of this game is I win money.
  21. Depends if Miami took one of those QBs. If they took one Tua's stock drops. What I would do is offer 8 and a 2nd and take Tua and 18.
  22. I get that dumping TB contract would help us greatly but most teams have seen our films. They know TB is limited in what he can do. Especially with the game on the line. Why would anyone really want him. Brady really screwed us by falling in love with a backup QB that play where he was an assistant. I like the offense but Brady really F'd us. I cannot see anyone taking TB off our hands without having to give up more. Kind of like what LAR did with Goff. They had to give up picks as well as a huge contract.
  23. Not at all. My favorite NCAA teams are ECU, UNC and OSU. ECU because I went there a long time ago. UNC because my brother walked on and played against LT and OSU because my best friend was an OSU fan and OSU has always been a national contender.
  24. I cannot think of one player to ever play the game that was MORE intense than SS. I was at the 2005 game against Minnesota where Fred Smoots said he was going to shut Smitty down. It was not as he thought. I believe Smitty had 2 TD and 199 yds and Smoots was ruined as a DB after that. I can watch his highlight reels over and over. Love watching him going up as a 5'9" receiver and out jumping multiple defenders. I miss watching him play. And sadly I watch him tear us a new A-hole when we played Baltimore. I can see why Culley never brought it up.
