Just how Inept is our offense

I was looking at the first for games namely how many possessions we had, and total time of possession. It's not pretty We had 12 possessions against Cleveland and 7 of those possession were 4 plays or less * One was a TD. Cleveland 38:26 to Carolina 21:34 We had 11 possessions against New York and 5 of those possession were 4 plays or less * One was a TD New York 35:57 to Carolina 24:03 We had 13 possessions against New Orleans and 7 of those possession were 4 plays or less *One was kneel at the end New Orleans 29:50 to Carolina 30:10 We had 12 possessions against Arizona and 7 of those possession were 4 plays or less Arizona 38:35 to Carolina 21:25 46 possessions with 25 were 4 plays or less * 2 TDs That is nearly 1/2 of our possessions where we didn't get a 1st down or just 1 first down. Time of Possession Average 35:12 to 24:48

Wait… Steve Smith Sr has tear ducts?!?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
A very professional tribute. Steve didn't make it about himself but for Sam. We have to remember that Steve was a budding star when Sam was with the team. Though Sam was a defensive coach you can surely believe he was in Steve's ear about being great. He was in his ear about being the small guy not getting any respect. Steve, like Sam, showed the world greatness. Sam was such a great player, and I was ecstatic when we signed him in our inaugural season to be the leader of our defense. His leadership set the tone for a team that one year removed from their first season they were in the NFC Championship game. Sam deserved the HOF and surely Steve will too. -
So what's up with the batted balls?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to PhillyB's topic in Carolina Panthers
Under our current scheme defenses simply take away the middle of the field and give us the outside. Defensive ends are instructed to get their hands up and there you go. Shuts down our entire scheme. -
I too was on the bandwagon that McAdoo was going to bring some stability to this offense. Apparently not. Spending my career in the USN I learned a thing or two about leadership. One thing I learned was that when a leader has problems no matter who it is that works under them. It usually turns out the problem is the leader and not the subordinate that they keep replacing. Rhule blamed Brady and fired him and I am sure Rhule is looking at McAdoo as a scapegoat this year. While I don't think the answer is McAdoo, I cannot help but think Rhule has a finger in our offensive ineptness.

I SUPPORT the TANK-A-THON, do you
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tanking? We seem to be doing a damn good job at losing without having to try. -
It's sad when everyday you wake up praying that you see the headlines "Panther's fire Rhule" only to see nothing posted.

Is it fair to discuss trading CMC / DJ
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's not the gd players. It is the freaking coach. Get a decent head coach and this team would be much better. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever why we can only score 13 offensive points in a game. IT'S THE COACHING, NAMELY THE HEAD COACH, -
No way we draft a QB as long as we have Rhule. Reclamation Project 1. Bridgewater Reclamation Project 2 . Darnold Reclamation Project 3. Mayfield Reclamation Project 4. Daniel Jones

Baker 2022 vs. Clausen 2010
DaveThePanther2008 replied to OnlyPantherFaninMaine's topic in Carolina Panthers
Baker Clausen was a rookie with a gutted team and we knew we were in for a long year. Baker has tons of talent on this team and good defense. -
It's okay guys. We're close. You just don't see it.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tepper won't fire Rhule. His freaking ego is too big to admit he fudged up. -
No personality. No nothing. Just blah.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's embarrassing that our defense is the only reason why this game is even close. Just embarrassing. Tepper will not fire him this week and that will make this just as much embarrassing. -

Tepper will probably fire Rhule and hire Kingsbury. -

Defense is fast and quite stout. Gotta give Snow some credit. Just wish McAdoo has his poo together. -

Thomas couldn't catch a cold. -
@stbugs Is not a fan of Corral. So, we need to take his takes on him with a grain of salt. That said if we end up in the top 5 in the draft, I think we'll try for one of the elite QBs that come out of this draft. Right now, Stroud seems to be the front runner, but I doubt we get first dibs on him. Corral, IMO, didn't get much of a chance and that's on Rhule. If he wasn't going to get a clean shot with some decent o-line than they should have just sat him the whole preseason. Many want to view his preseason as a precursor to how he would play in the NFL. Game one was terrible, but he did much better in game 2 before getting hurt. Given the chance I think he'll be a solid player in this league. Whether it is with the Panthers, will be the question.
-
God knows we don't need to keep scrapping the bottom of the barrel for a QB hoping he turns out to be another Jake Delhomme.
-
True, but the idea when we drafted Corral was to draft a starter not a backup. If we end up taking a QB he is most likely going to start ahead of Corral in the depth chart. We probably could have used that 2023 3rd round pick on a better position player. We could have signed an aging vet as a backup. Though I get your point.
-
Agreed, I personally think he has the tools and the competitive nature to get better. The "red shirt" mentality of Rhule has really hampered him and us from ever really knowing what we have. The saddest part of this is, if we do end up in a position to draft one of the top QBs in the draft, we are going to take one. Basically, wasting a pick in next year's draft.

I had high hopes for McAdoo but after 3 games it's just another in a line of terrible Offensive Coordinators. It blows my mind that we can never seem to get an OC that has an imagination. I watch other teams run misdirection plays and plays to keep the defense on their toes while our OC runs the same boring plays over and over. The Giants last night ran a play that was successful several times. Where Jones rolled out to the left and the option of throwing an out pattern or the TE on the inside. The TE made several catches from this play. I just wonder why our OC can't come up with plays like this.

Who was talking sh¡t about Ickey in reference to Neal?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
All of the top tackles in this draft have had their crappy moments. IMO Icky has had less issue than the others. None of them are going to win any awards other than being on the rookie team. Thomas from Dallas might be one of them. Too many fans think that they should dominate every play. Most forget that these rookies are going against the best edge rushers in the league. Experience over ability. Those rookies are going to get burned a couple of times. -
Though the injury prevents us from ever truly knowing. I think this injury will help him. He'll be able to watch and learn. I do think that he would play better. He has such a quick release that he won't miss open targets. His first preseason game was abysmal while his second game before the injury he played much better. Given proper reps and a chance to settle down. I think he would do ok. At our current pace we'll probably be in the running for a top tier college QB, (Doubt we'll be high enough for Stroud) so we'll never know because we'll probably draft one.

In the old days Pro Bowl meant something. That was in the days where players weren't getting millions and millions of dollars. Today these players are not going to risk a serious injury playing a insignificant game. They should break the AFC and NFC into 4 divisions. Combine the AFCN and S and AFCW and E and the same for the NFC and play three flag football games. Or chose Two captains from each conference and let them choose sides. 1 hour each. It would be a 3- or 4-hour event. Winning team gets a winner take all pot. That would put some excitement into the Pro Bowl.
