Coming to terms with the Frank Kaminsky pick...
TheMaulClaw replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Charlotte Hornets
I don't mind the Frank pick. Guy played against tough competition, and played huge against Kentucky. Frank isn't the greatest athlete in terms of combine numbers, but he's got great fluidity, hand-eye, and you can tell he's intelligent with the ball is in his hands. He'll contribute more this year then Vonleh was going too. Cho practically telegraphed this pick by the moves he made in the off season. After getting Batum and Lamb there was no way we were drafting a SG. -

In twenty years, what's your favorite win to date?

Week 2, 2003, against the Bucs. When we blocked an extra point to send it to overtime. -
NFL Free Agent Collins Cleared as Suspect
TheMaulClaw replied to Moorgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think we're spending a lot of thought power on a guy who clearly seems to be headed somewhere else. -
I agree completely about Oher. I think Corey Brown's progression might be underestimated by a lot of people. He's only going get stronger. He really could be a nice weapon in the slot this year.

Cam was hurt and our Oline was constantly being reshuffled. Based on what I watched last year....I really do feel that the success we saw in the final quarter of the season could be used as a better barometer of what we can expect offensively going into next season. I'm excited about our team and I think we're being built to withstand injuries. I really do feel that our Oline is going to be a lot better then people think. We saw more downfield passing as the season progressed as the Oline could provide better protection. There are few teams that have the sort of cohesion this team will have. For the most part we didn't lose anyone and all we've done is add talent.
-
The offense has improved around Cam this year and he's in a contract year. If he has a bad season it's on him. That said...I think he'll step up.

Yep.

Good Lord...how many threads on WRS must exist within one forum? Are we not satisfied?

Eh. You know when the team game plans or has film sessions they're assigned to a positional group right? Chances are if you're a LB you'd listen to TD and if you're CB you'd listen to Peanut. No offense...I'm not sure how you can have two NFL man of the year award winners on D and that be a bad thing.

Charles Tillman, CB aka "Peanut" signs with Panthers

You better believe it's the truth when SCP writes something that has a serious undertone. I mean take that poo to the bank. -
Charles Tillman, CB aka "Peanut" signs with Panthers
TheMaulClaw replied to mc52beast's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's exactly how I see it playing out as well. I think he replaces Harper. -
So wait a minute. Lets say you're a 1st or 2nd year player in the secondary...you wouldn't want any tips from Tillman? A guy that's had a long prosperous career? Somehow you'd feel that your loyalties would be divided between TD or Peanut so your play would suffer because you're confused about who to take tips from? Sounds like a good problem to me. Weird.

I wouldn't go 3 years. A 2 year deal wouldn't bother me just because he truly is a coach on the field. He'll teach our boys to strip the ball better. I hope for a Jennings deal too. If we get these two guys, we'd be really freed up in the draft. Would almost like to see us get three straight OL in the draft. 1. Tackle 2. Guard 3. Center 4. RB
-
Have a tendency to lean towards a Huddle All-Pro on arguments. Only thing I will say is that Cason, Florence, etc have never had the sort of long term success that Tillman has had. Tillman is a better player then those guys ever were. His "something left in the tank" is more then theirs....or Harper's....or Decoud's.
-
We'd have great leadership on defense. If Tillman is even serviceable his value would be felt in more this just his individual play. We're talking about a guy who knows Rivera's defense and has TDavis like qualities as a leader. Even if he's lost a step I bet he could make sure that all the young are exactly where they need be. Not to mention it's low risk and high reward so why not right?

RUMOR: Panthers looking to move up to 16-20th pick

I think DG would move up if he could land Gurley. We NEED a replacement for Stewart next year. -

And a little luck. -
Now that I think about it....I wanna be the guy that pushes Liotta off the ship.

As long as I can play Ray Liotta.

Precisely why I prefer a good cobbler. -
That's what I'd prefer. This is Stewart's last season here...we need a replacement. Gurley with a year under his belt sounds good to me.
