  1. "Keep pounding" is a sentimental favorite, but it's not as classic as, "Ice up, son!"
  2. It's hard to say. I've read that the reason that Buzbee and company have brought up settling is that they perceive problems with the case. That being said, I think that many people are going to be able to overlook this issue, give him an opportunity to resume his career, and keep a mental leash on him at the very least and watch whether or not he's learned lessons and stays out of trouble.
  3. Yes, it was a great listen! Did you note Rhule's face at the beginning of the presser? Talking about someone that looked checked in--he looked like he was ready to jump out the chair, over the table and onto someone! As for my general feelings about Rhule, I already know that he's a very smart guy. He's impressive! So the presser didn't make me feel any better about him as much as it just confirmed what I already suspected. He knows what he's looking for and is true to his process, which he has confidence in, but he's also flexible enough to be open-minded (which is also a natural part of his process). I know that some Huddlers have been critical of Rhule from the start, comparing him to Chip Kelly and all, and even continue to criticize him now, but I would not bet against coach Rhule at this point. He'll get us to perennial elite status.
  4. "...skills before stats!" That's a theme, and that's the ticket, boys and girls!
  5. I agree about Lawrence, but we don't know if Wilson was in that equation. And though some might want to argue, Lance could have easily been in that equation as well (or not). The only thing we know for sure is that Jones and Fields didn't make the cut.
  6. So you really believe that Rhule and Fitterer passed on Fields because it would've made them look bad after acquiring Darnold? That's a terrible take, & doesn't jibe with jettisoning TB & paying most of his salary while he plays for Denver. Fitterer and Rhule aren't scared in the least and won't let public opinion sway them in the slightest as it pertains to building the best team possible. They proved it when they acquired Darnold, & proved it again by trading down multiple times.
  7. We won't know whether choosing Darnold over Fields was a big blunder or successful shrewd strategy until many months from now. That's the simple truth of the matter.
  8. Any contrived equation that is comparing Fields to Horn in a bubble and sums the pick up as a failure is flawed because it doesn't take into account Sam Darnold. That's just how I see it.
  9. My initial reaction: the only advantage that they may have is along the O-line. Hopefully ours will gel enough that even that won't be an advantage come September.
  10. I understand. But y'all need to leave Robby alone. Being that Bridgewater in no way played to Robby's strengths, I would say Robby did damned good! BTW, I wouldn't say any of our guys were great, but they were all good, especially considering the context.
  11. It's a cute vid with attempts at humor.
  12. Corporations and rich corporatists will buy the seats.
  13. Pretty sure Smitty had over 1000 yards that season. I wouldn't be afraid to face Cam if he plays like he did the last three seasons.
  14. Darnold needs to win this game, and it would be nice if he wins it convincingly!
  15. It's the best one I've seen so far. And I'm not just saying it cuz I'm his dad.
  16. I'd be fine with it at a reasonable cost, otherwise I'd pass. I heard Wright talking in an interview several weeks back. He was basically of the attitude like he knew his worth, was still producing at a high level and wasn't going to take a "hometown discount". I kind of took it like he wasn't interested in playing for cheap. Maybe he understands his market now, which I don't believe is so great due to his age, not to mention the covid-reduced budgets. Mind you, I'm not saying he's worth nothing, just not what he thinks he's worth. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/30947115/kj-wright-opposes-taking-hometown-discount-stay-seattle-seahawks-makes-absolutely-no-sense%3fplatform=amp
  17. I'm not listing anything, but I will say that most importantly we exceeded pre-season expectations. We were in games that we really didn't have any business being in late into the fourth quarter. Rhule coached up a young and inexperienced squad--that was really talent-challenged. Considering the context, what Rhule did was amazing, even if we fell flat the second half of the season (because we shouldn't have realistically had any visions of a postseason his first year as HC). That being said, now we can see light at the end of the tunnel with a more seasoned and talented staff. You can slam the draft all you like. The proof will be in the pudding. Most analysts and NFL types at least like and appreciate the moves the FO made, if not outright loved them. I'm past trying to convince people to have a wait-and-see approach. The team was inconsistently good, pre-Rhule, that had basically devolved into a gradual slow-moving train wreck. It was a mess: a bunch of old or beatup players that had seen their best days, and a staff that believed in rhetorical competition, but deferred to mediocre vets in reality. The franchise was lifeless and a semblance of what a good franchise really looks like (much less an elite one). The current FO has changed all that. Sure, it took them some time to get up to speed, and they're still developing and learning, but with the commitment to start fresh 100 percent, the rebuild is in earnest and the franchise looks to have great energy.
  18. And he's likely going to say that "it's just another game." Everyone in the football universe knows that he has that game circled in red.
  19. So much regarding whether a QB wins or not also depends upon the franchise around him. Context always matters.
  20. Great to see them adding some competition at backup QB. Note that they're also not just settling for old retreads either which would probably be fairly easy to do. They're thinking forward.
  21. I mean, the nerve of some people trying to come from a more positive and/or analytical approach instead of starting out wholly negative (because they didn't draft the next big thing at QB). The nerve!
